I know what "amen" means, brother. And I would add to what you've posted, that Jesus prefaced His lesson or speech with amen rather than finishing with it.xdisciplex said:Amen means as much as "This is true" or "Truly" and when Jesus says "Amen Amen" then he's basically saying: "Listen up! Here comes something especially important."
Sometimes he only says Amen. But when he says Amen Amen you know that you gotta be alert.![]()

There's a growing trend of people saying "amen and amen" rather than a single "amen" after prayer or when they agree with someone else.
Kris said:While on vacation we visited a baptist church. Two or three times while the Pastor preached he would say, "Can I get an Amen?' The members would just sit there until he yelled it again. Then they would yell amen. He seemed to like a little validation every 15 minutes or so.

"SOMEBODY GIVE ME AN AMEN!!!" "A-meeen, prea-cher!"LeBuick said:Two or three times, we believe in talking back to the preacher so I get more AMEN's than three. I know a preacher who closes his message in a melodic speech and as he builds to his climax he repeated says, "can I get a witness".
I enjoy that...

Now, a preacher who goes fishing for amens all the time aggrivates me as it comes off fake. If you have to ask people to say amen, is it really that big of deal and are you really saying something of worth?
