America: Founded on Christian Principles?

One of my favorite books on the subject. Good suggestion.
This is a very good book on this subject.
Like. A lot.
The op said "founded on Christian principles" there is nothing there about being a Christian nation.
And I would like very much my friend to know some of those points of disagreement.

As a Christian "Nation"? Not really...not specifically.
On Christian "Principles"? Absolutely.
In a way, so were their European Forebears, but what made the U.S. unique from them was not Christian Principles per se, but their Political Philosophy (yes they are almost always interrelated). Their political philosophy was indeed a lot of Locke, Paine and Jefferson.........Rousseau? not so much. Credit Rousseau with the French Revolution which stands in starke contrast to the American Revolution.
Ultimately though...it is more than looking at the founding of our Federal System only but to remember that we were a collection of Sovereign Colonies. Our Articles of Confederation pre-date the Constitution and they are as signifigant to our "founding" as are the Constitutions of our initial colonies and the U.S. Constitution.
Many of the individual colonies were absolutely and legally of a specific Ecclesiastical bent. You could truly call them "Christian Nations". The Constitution was careful not to interfere with those provisos either. We are decidedly Closer to having been founded as a "Christian Nation" than NOT. But, however one wants to parse words to avoid that particular conclusion....There is no doubt that Christian Principles dominated the Political thought, even amongst those fore-fathers who did not profess Orthodox Christianity as a faith; they Universally appealed to the Biblical World-view and Biblical morality.

Yes period.
many of them held also to christian principles/morality, and some were chrsitian as we define the term!
Still the same, they expected a people to following the biblical morality/principles, especially those of jesus!
they would NOT hold to 'seperation of Church and State", as redefined by the Court!
