Americans Rate Donald Trump’s Inauguration Speech Positively; Favorability Jumps Seven Points

The term fake news has become a pejorative for whatever someone doesn't like instead of simply being a story completely unfounded. This is why words lose their meaning. Using the term this way is in fact "fake news". it is completely incorrect.
Headline says Trump's favorable ratings jumped seven points. That's false. Not liking the headline isn't a determinant in making that assessment.

FakeNews.

Canonization will be soon per Executive Order. Then he will forever be known as Saint Donald.

"fake news" is a overused phrase now, it's an umbrella term for hyperbolic reporting, propaganda, half-truths, total fabrication, facts masquerading as opinion and vice-versa, and it can mean news you don't want to believe or news you want to believe but isn't true.

But it did jump by seven. You are making this far more complicated than it needs to be - if you are ahead in the polls 37-33 and a week later you are ahead 39-30, you are now nine points ahead not two.

It's going to stay in the 40 to 60 range no matter who is POTUS.

This is not a poll with a lead, this is a favorable/neutral/unfavorable poll.

Before the speech his ratings were 46/6/48.

After the speech his ratings were 49/7/44.

Some neutrals and some unfavorables changed positions with the net result being he gained 3 points, not 7 points.

Looks to me like the net result was that 4 unfavorables changed their minds--3 upgraded to favorable and 1 upgraded to neutral.

It's become the term used to point out the easily countered lies that Trump forces his lackey Spicer to spew. All of a sudden the truth is immaterial to Trump acolytes.

All of a sudden the truth that President Trump is even up by three points causes a great deal of angst and tantrum throwing for some Trump haters.

Find a pet store and choose the pet of your choice to cuddle (most pet stores have run out of puppies since the election).

No and no.

Article said a majority of people liked his speech when in fact it was 49%.

Article said his approval rating jumped 7 points when I'm fact it was 3 points.

I've already said I don't care what Trump's approval rating is so long as he does the right thing.

I object to inaccurate reporting and fawning.

It could have been stated a lot better, but is a total swing of seven. The positive rating went up by three, but the negative rating went down by four. So it's like 3- (-4) = 7.

.

He likes to quibble. Does it all the time.

Things like this can be looked at both ways by reasonable people, the same word can be used in different ways, etc. But not to ITL. He has this burning need for some kind of affirmation. He HAS to be right.

Stopped Carrier from taking ~ 1,300 jobs to Mexico...

Stopped Ford from moving to Mexico. Plus, they are gonna invest more $ in their Detroit plant and hire 700 more workers....

Locheed-Martin to lower prices on their jets...

All this BEFORE he was even sworn in...

Gonna get wall built to slow the # of illegal migrants coming across and also slow the amount of drugs being smuggled in.

Stopped funding countries that perform abortions.

This is where the screaming comes...the liberals blubbering in their tears because their 'Madam President' got beat...

Angst and tantrum throwing? I really don't see any of that here. ITL merely pointed out some inconsistent language that didn't correspond with the underlying data.

The data did indicate improvement for Trump, and I'll give him credit for that.

But it's important not to overstate the facts, and I believe that's ITL's point.

I can't stand the fact that Trump is in the Oval Office, and I wish there were a way for him to step aside and let Pence take over, but that doesn't make me unwilling to acknowledge positive news for Trump when it happens.

This is undoubtedly positive news for Trump. It's just not as positive as suggested.

You need to go back and read the op this is flat out wrong.

"
  • Overall positive reactions: 49% of respondents thought the speech was good or excellent, compared to 39% who found it only fair or poor. Additionally, 55% of voters thought it was better than they expected it to be.
  • Much more optimistic than pessimistic: 51% found the speech optimistic and 50% found it hopeful. Only 26% found it to be pessimistic.
  • “America First” is a hit: 65% of voters reacted positively to the passage in which Trump said, “It’s going to be America First.” 22% reacted negatively to this concept.
  • Definitely not boring: only 21% of respondents found the speech boring, compared to 57% who didn’t."
49% thought it was good or excellent. Nothing there about simply liking it.

ITL you want to hold others to exactness when it suits your ability to criticize Trump (or anyone for that matter) but then you fail to do the same to make your own points. I have sufficiently shown your claim to be "fake news".

First, I didn't even mention you. Apparently you have a guilty conscience.

I've already said I don't care what Trump's approval rating is so long as he does the right thing.
OK, agreed.

I object to inaccurate reporting and fawning.
Me neither. Apparently this doesn't apply to many on the BB when it comes to liberal politicians.

Yeah, it's wrong. Shame on me. Here's the original post:

A majority of Americans praised President Donald Trump’s inauguration speech, according to a Morning Consult/National Tracking Poll

49% thought it was good or excellent. Not a majority.

55% thought it was better than expected. Not praise.

51% found it optimistic. Bare majority.

50% found it hopeful. Not a majority.

65% of voters reacted positively to the passage in which Trump said, “It’s going to be America First.” Majority of people liked one phrase in the speech.

57% did not find it boring. Not praise.
