Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:
We have stuck together since the late 1950’s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot, and will not ever agree on what is right, so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile, chalk it up to irreconcilable differences, and go our own way…
Here is a model separation agreement:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O’Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them) …
We’ll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies, and illegal aliens. We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s, and rednecks. We’ll keep the bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood. You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks, and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we’ll help provide them security…
We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. But we will no longer be paying the bill.
We’ll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.
You can give everyone healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors. We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We’ll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute Imagine, I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya, or We Are the World.
We’ll practice trickle down economics, and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you we’ll also keep our history, our name, and our flag.
Would you agree to this? If so please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots, and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I’ll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.
Sincerely,
John J. Wall.

P.S. Also, please take Barbara Streisand.
Well MP, not too many of the republican posters want to touch this, and I don't blame them! :laugh:
Now follow the link offered as evidence:
One Justice Department lawyer answering hypothetical questions has nothing to do with conservatism. Hyperbole on top of hyperbole. Dick Cheney's darkest fantasy is to torture a child and crush his testicles? This article should be disassembled and the letters and punctuation recycled into something more intelligent.Revelations in the Justice Department’s whitewash of the torture memos offer a frightening glimpse into the mind of John Yoo, the former Justice Department lawyer who, with now judge Jay Bybee and others, gave the Bush administration a license to entertain the darkest fantasies of Dick Cheney. What Yoo believes is not just weird, or scary, or Byzantine. It’s downright un-American. Apparently, Yoo believes that as long as he says the United States is “at war” with some entity — state or non-state, and even without a Constitutional declaration of war by Congress, the president of the United States has it perfectly within his power to:
- Torture a child by having his testacles crushed in front of his parents to get them to talk;
- Order the massacre of a civilian village (meaning the My Lai massacre would have been, in Yoo’s construction, perfectly legal, had it been ordered directly by the president);
- Launch a nuclear attack without the consent of Congress;

Blah, blah, blah.....

Hit a nerve, I see! :laugh:

I have seen several of your posts praising the recent Republican actions of the last decade which tells me you have a very liberal, anti-Constitutional mindset. Bush, Republican, Cheney, and the Republican Congress of last decade are not synonyms for conservative or Constitutional government.No, no nerve hitting. Just a profound sense of sadness for those on the left that this is now what constitutes "intelligent" political discourse on their part.
Not even once did the blogger try to engage conservatives on an issue. He never explains why he believes our belief in the principles of limited government, individual liberties, holding politicians accountable, not leaving our children the legacy of an insurmountable debt, etc is bad or tries to correct us. He never even challenges us to explain ourselves or defend our beliefs. He just starts right in calling us racists and making a lot of silly false accusations.
To the liberal mind, that's a rational argument against those things. Liberals actually believe those things give them credibility. But they don't. They just make liberals appear foolish and not worth responding to.
If you really want to "hit a nerve", then explain to us (without calling names, without accusing us of racism, wanting to starve the poor, kill the elderly, etc, and by providing evidence to back up your claims) why you believe the principles we believe in are wrong.
Explain to us why you believe that government is better suited to control our decisions than we are. Explain to us where you think we went wrong by not wanting to leave our children a debt that will cripple them. Tell us why we're wrong about the 10th Amendment.
Best post of the thread. You are absolutely correct. Both parties have lost touch, not only with the common man, but the Constitution, and conservative principles. One thing to remember, do not worry about anyone who accuses you of being movtivated by fear and racism. Most on this board operate out of the mindset that there is a difference between the two parties, which there is not. You have great insight into this issue, leaving the others in the dust clueless, as their posts reflect.One of the most worst things that the conservatives could possibly do would be to become a more liberal group that adopts and accepts any of the socialist, liberal politics of the Dems. If anything the conservative party needs to recommit themselves to an even more conservative slant in economical, domestic, and international policy. I think that both parties have lost touch with the common man and just how conservative mainstream America really is. And another thing, I get sick and tired of being accused of being motivated by fear and racism!

I owe you an apology, as I had you mixed up with someone else. The prevailing view on this board is that the previous Republican administration was conservative, which is hog wash. Yes, I agree about Rand Paul, in fact, I have a campaign sign in my front yard right now.Obviously, you have me confused with someone else. Not only am I not a Republican, I have been a very consistent and very vocal critic of the Republican party.
About the only "Republican action" that I know of that I have defended in years is their decision to vote as a block against the takeover of the healthcare industry and I find it difficult to imagine how anyone can call that a "very liberal, anti-Constitutional mindset".
By the way, you might also be interested to know that I've been a huge supporter of Rand Paul, someone who you claimed in another thread to also support.
