This very much appears to me to be a case of "much ado about nothing."

God made the sun, the moon and the stars. Anyone could point at anything God made and shout "EVIL!" and some people would believe it to be so out of fear. (History has proved this more than once)

I'm sure there are many symbols and forms all around us that are of pagan origin. And I know the Bible says not to be conformed to the world. The question is: how are we to deal with pagan forms without becoming near-hermits, constantly worried that we have compromised without even knowing it? My answer would be that we must pick our battles, being concerned primarily with the things that are truly and obviously harmful. Practically speaking, we cannot defeat or avoid every expression of paganism in the world.

Pagan symbols mean nothing to me. But some people are more sensitive than others and I will respect that. When I was young in the Lord I checked into them. I found a book at the library once of religious art. There was a picture of a huge Catholic church in it and the art work was full of horoscope symbols.

About the swastika. It was not originally a symbol for the Nazis. I went to an art exibit in Seattle in the 80's. It was called "The Son of Heaven" relating to the last emrorer of China, Pu Yi. They had a throne with these huge ornate cloisonne pots to each side of it, they were at least 4000 years old. One of the symbols was...a swastika!

I believe that we should elivate our minds out of the lusts, greed and animal cave man instinct that take us away from our desire to be close to God. Not actually physically remove ourselves from living in the physical world. That would be impossible.

Bart, you are absolutely right. Godly people will be forced in a cave to escape persecution as many have in the past. I know some that were martyred because they refused to worship other gods. [/QB]</font>[/QUOTE]Walls, you missed the point. I am not talking about being forced anywhere. Let me ask you, do you think you are taking part in a masonic ritual when you and your daughter are wearing aprons in your kitchen? I have seen people draw back so far out of society and normal living because they are afraid of every little symbol they see on every page of their life. Rejecting normal family life because they are seeing baal in every thing they see. When you become so "infatuated" with symbolism or anti-symbolism that everyone you come into contact with thinks you are crazy then you will not reach a single soul for the Lord Jesus.
    Thanks --------Bart

Acts 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: 20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

Further 1Co 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I am not only commanded to obstain but also to flee.

The link provided clearly shows an image of what Baal looks like, a known idol/god in the Bible. This image is all throughout the retail world. I didn't go looking for it, but I did happen across it. I most certainly will abstain from it because I am commanded to, and if I see idolatry in action, I will flee. When the Holy Spirit leads me to a truth I try to change things accordingly and follow the Bible concerning it.

Bart, I am sure you are a nice guy and according to your profile you are a pastor. This is not a salvation issue however, it is one of holy living and not being conformed to the image of this world. I have seen many people eager to serve the Lord with all their hearts and in all areas of their life only to be turned away because the pastor stifles their walk by asking them "How far are you going to go?"

My answer is as long as I am not afraid to know the truth and the Lord shows me the truth, I will go as far as I can go. And oh yes, I will talk to people about Christ all along the way! ;)

    OK!
Send me all those Federal Reserve Notes in your wallet, you know the ones with the pagan images and masonic symbols (all seeing eye symbol of Isis, for instance) all over them.

I will take care of them for you. [IMG]
