That's the South Carolina secession ordinance, which was the model for those that followed in other states.

and what did the Confederate Constitution say about slaves?

A fair amount.

Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several States, which may be included within this Confederacy, according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three-fifths of all slaves.

The importation of negroes of the African race from any foreign country other than the slaveholding States or Territories of the United States of America, is hereby forbidden; and Congress is required to pass such laws as shall effectually prevent the same.

Congress shall also have power to prohibit the introduction of slaves from any State not a member of, or Territory not belonging to, this Confederacy.

No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed.

The citizens of each State shall be entitled to all the privileges and immunities of citizens in the several States; and shall have the right of transit and sojourn in any State of this Confederacy, with their slaves and other property; and the right of property in said slaves shall not be thereby impaired.

No slave or other person held to service or labor in any State or Territory of the Confederate States, under the laws thereof, escaping or lawfully carried into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labor; but shall be delivered up on claim of the party to whom such slave belongs, or to whom such service or labor may be due.

The Confederate States may acquire new territory; and Congress shall have power to legislate and provide governments for the inhabitants of all territory belonging to the Confederate States, lying without the limits of the several Sates; and may permit them, at such times, and in such manner as it may by law provide, to form States to be admitted into the Confederacy. In all such territory the institution of negro slavery, as it now exists in the Confederate States, shall be recognized and protected by Congress and by the Territorial government; and the inhabitants of the several Confederate States and Territories shall have the right to take to such Territory any slaves lawfully held by them in any of the States or Territories of the Confederate States.

Nope. Perhaps it even makes the case for putting young Christians back into the school system.

It's prime ground for evangelism. So why pull all the Christian influences out? They might kick us out, but we shouldn't just call it a day and keep our kids at home or in Christian Schools.

It's a good thought, from a human perspective, but scripture tells us you cannot unleaven bread.

I'm willing to bet he was privately schooled.

Yeah, well VERY few people in his day had very little if any formal schooling as we know it. In fact, according to some recent reading....very few were literate as they still lived in oral based culture...not as we in textual based culture.

Civil war or war between the states one thing is for sure it was a war and many people died.
Some not knowing Christ as Savior. That is the real shame

So then Jesus withdrew, and he was privately educated, away from the rest of his peers.

I see no Christian reason you cannot give your child the best education you can afford.

3) Every year we celebrate Independence Day, the 4th of July, to remember our gaining independence from British rule, in 1776...

Actually July 76 is when Independence was declared. The war was not over for some 7 years
4) But two other dates should be burned into our collective memory as well, the date no human could be owned, and the date women obtained the right to vote and play a role in the destiny of themselves and their loved ones. ...
A) Are you speaking of the Emancipation Proclamation of 1 Jan 63? You do realize that did NOT apply to States in the United States - only to States in the CSA.
B) The 19th Amendment simply guaranteed women the right to vote - nothing had prohibited them from voting.

5) I doubt I will be alive when all humans, conceived or born have the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, which will mark the completion of the American Revolution.

The problem is that these days Christians are loosing our liberty and pursuit of happiness.

In case anyone cares, December 18,1865 is the date the 13th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified. Nobody could be considered property.

The 19th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified on August 26, 1920. Women could not be denied the vote. My mother, when born in 1917, did not have the right to vote.

Now, the Law of the land, denies the right to life for babies. If they can take away the rights of the defenseless, what precludes them from taking away your rights?
