Hope this helps.
The Hebrew for "angel" is messanger.
In Genesis 16:7 - It seems the "angel of the Lord," is only there to deliver a message.
In Psalm 34:7 and Psalm 91:11 it appears that the angels take on the duty of "protecting" people.
Genesis 3:24 refers to Cherubim guarding Eden. Ezekial 4:14 is a vision the referes to 4 living creatures that had the form of a man, but with four faces, four wings, feet like calves and hands of men. Later, Ezekial 10:7 refers to one of these creatures as a cherubim. Hebrews 9:5 speaks of the "cherubim of the Glory". Revelations 4:6 creatures the seem to fit the description from Ezekial appear.
Isaiah 6:2 "Above him were seraphs, each with six wings; With two wings they covered thir faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying."
Serphas = angelic beings, the Hebrew is "Burn". This is the only place they are mentioned.
I Thessalonians 4:16 refers to the Archangel, and Jude 1:9 names him, "But even teh archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare bring a sladnerous accusation aboust him."
Garbiel (Luke 1:19 and 26) is called an angel, but is not given a "title".
Daniel 10:13 also describes Michael as "One of the chief princes." It shows Michael protecting the people, and in 12:1 says Michael is the prince who protects the people.
