    Mitsy,

That was not meant to be an insult on your beloved pet. It is a joke foremost, and an insult on the comment/thought that whatever will make you happy awaits you in heaven. That's absurd!

My view of God might differ from yours. I don't see Him as desiring to please me. I see Him as desiring me to please Him! His final heaven and earth will be whatever He wants it to be, and those who receive an invitation to "the wedding feast of the Lamb" will be those who will be pleased with what God has prepared for them. I would be very careful in keeping your list of "requirements to make you happy" that God is under obligation to fulfill. ;)

    God bless!

Yeah, I would certainly agree that my view of God and yours is different. I don't think that we sit at the feet of Jesus for eternity in heaven. I believe that we do meet Him and that we do get to spend time with Him, but that we have a purpose to serve even in heaven. I won't venture to guess what that might be, but if we would be more content to have a pet there, then it would be hard for me to believe that our pet would not be there as well. And I think heaven can be different for different people. After all, we are not all the same and God knows our hearts better than we do. I trust Him that whatever is in heaven will be my heart's desire and that won't conflict with what God wants for me as well.

The fact is, no matter how clever we are, there are some things we just don't know. We can speculate and we can wish, but that is the best we can do. The passages referring to heaven often uses picturesue language, but I am not sure it is literal. I am content to wait until I arrive to know many things. In the interim, I preach what I do know......I know that Jesus saves......I know that He leads me in paths of righteousness all the days of my life,,,and in shadows, He will be there.........streets of gold......I have my doubts, but the picture is grand and if it is so, so be it.

Saddle those horses! I plan to ride again.

    Cheers, keep looking up!

The only references for any animals in heaven is for horses. Now whether they are already there, or if the dead horse goes there(?), there is no reference.

I do not believe dogs will be there. I, for one, don't like them, and when I get to heaven, I don't care to see one there. And if the dogs get to go there, then what about the pet rodents, like hamsters, guinea pigs, and rats? Or even the pet snakes? The Bible refered to dogs as an unclean thing, even though we, as of late, decided to start raising them and bringing them indoors.

Jim - if not a horse, what (pray tell) is a "trotter"?

Always interested in British/Canadian gyrations with the language. Isn't there some famous quotation about "English is the common language that divides these nations"?

Trotters are pig's feet (usually pickled) in the American South too. Can't blame that one solely on the Brits. :D

Where have I been, Jim, when this topic was spreading its wings?

You said you were not "dog"matic? Ah, you've shown your colors.

I have no idea about animals in heaven. I won't rule it out. God created the animals, so they are part of his creation. When he recreates the earth, why shouldn't there be animals? And if some of them are those we knew earlier?
