I'm sorry for the delayed response. I just didn't get back into this thread after entering my post, and wouldn't have seen your note but for searching for an unknown thread that TH sent me a troll PM for not responding to on some unknown question.

Yes, I thought she did an excellent job of presenting actual details from that period. I must be honest, that I didn't spend any time checking her sources but I've not seen a response that details any errors/misstatements she made in the book. I haven't read any of her other books, given, as you say, her tendency toward the juvenile I saw in the debate I mentioned. I was impressed with Treason but don't imagine I will be similarly impressed with her others.

BTW, an excellent conservative book with substance is Buckley and Bozell's McCarthy and His Enemies. :smilewinkgrin: And I do read lots of others.

Also, BTW, you can count yourself lucky you don't identify yourself as a conservative since you have praised Strauss. You might call down the mighty rabid howls of anti-necocon-ism here for doing so.

FTR, you can read most of the snarky comments on line, googling for Godless quotes. The book has a shortage of them, actually. Most of her worst comments have come from live TV interviews.

It just seems to me that anything that could make the Republican party, and especially this President, is overlooked by you. I'm sure, however, that the same seems true toward me when it is a Democrat who is being questioned.

Although I don't often agree with your politics, I do not want you to be my enemy. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you.

You failed to respond to this post.

I deeply apologize. I read your PM before I read your response here and was very touched by it. I was obviously thin-skinned in my response and I deeply apologize for my offenses here and in the thread you asked the question in (I still haven't gone back to it, was away from the Internet yesterday). You were very gracious in your PM reply and I more than regret, again I apologize for, my taking offense so quickly and so lightly. I sincerely hope that I have not made an enemy and hope instead to make a friend here.

 

I had never heard of her until this book came out. After seeing her on Fox News hashing it out on Hannity & Colmes (sp?) as well as with Democratic strategists, I have decided I really like this lady.

I'll read this book, as well as her others, if and when I get a chance.

It is most certainly why I didnt consider voting Democrat that year. It was my first Presidential race to vote in, ah I remember it well. Made sense then, makes much sense now.

I havent read the newest of Coulter's books yet. I just finished James Bradley's "Flyboys", which was awesome.

I was surprised on her views of abortion. With all the people who are trying to sway opinion of Coulter without actually reading what she says, if I listened to that, I would have never known she is adamantly against it. I am also, but it does not mean she is my new thought processor.

I read Treason a couple years ago and was intrigued with the process of how the Rodino Rule works. I learned a lot. I usually learn a bit more when things are put into a context like she has.

I also admired her article "The Battle Flag". It was actually refreshing to not hear it termed as a symbol of slavery. Everyone from the South always knew that, and it was odd that even a Yankee grasped that. :smilewinkgrin:

So who has read the new book?

I don't know if you are being genuine or facetious, but either way:

I am very conservative, and until late, voted mostly republican. To me, Ann is nothing but an opportunist that wants to sell books. There is absolutely nothing Christ like about her. It seems something went wrong with her thought process somewhere along the way.

 

Oh a bit of both, but I really do enjoy these displays of graciousness.

I guess it's a bad habit of mine to express genuine feelings in a facetious manner.

No, I havent read it, and have no intention of it either. Neither did I see DaVinci Code, buy a Playboy, or other such trash. There is no need to read a book she wrote to figure out what her game plan is. Reading her book adds nothing to ones life and makes her richer. I believe I can learn any principle or idea she has from the Bible.

Nope, and from the evidence, it seems that she does not line up with the Scriptures. Maybe some of the themes of her book do, but her inward motive lines up with the money changers. But then again, so do lots of TV evangelists.
