Antiochus Epiphanes - A "type " of the antichrist

In Daniel 9 & 11, we read about a king who wars against the saints as well as the Jews, having his soldiers end the daily sacrifices in the temple & setting up the "abomination of desolation". We recognize that king as Antiochus Epiphanes, king of the Seleucid branch of the former empire of Alexander The Great. This king invaded Jerusalem, had a statue of Zeus set up in the temple, & sacrificed a pig on its altar. This was a "type" of the AOD that Jesus said when it's seen, to flee Jerusalem at once.

In 2 Thess. 2:4, Paul wrote that the man of sin would sit in the temple & declare himself God, while rev. 13 says the false prophet will have people make a statue in honor of the beast, which he will supernaturally make speak. Seems the statue will be of the antichrist, & will be set up in the new temple the Jews will build in Jerusalem. That's in keeping with what was done by Antiochus & his army.

Any commentary about this ?

Hard to say. The "selling" of the High Priest office had become so cutthroat it is hard to blame the king for outlawing the Jewish religion. We have to keep in mind that Jewish sects were also advocating the Hellenization of the Hebrew people and religion (some advocating the worship of God under the symbolism of Zeus). If this had occurred 1010-970 BCE it would be easier to say. I guess he is one type.
