Must have been a coincidence then. Still, whenever you criticize someone's thinking skills and disinterest in logic you should post a link in the humor forum; surely somebody would appreciate the irony.

I am a conservative republican. However, I have a question about politics. Where in the Bible does it say THOU SHALT BE CONSERVATIVE IN YOUR POLITCAL VIEWS? I have read through the New Testament and cannot find one single verse about voting republican. Why are most conservative protestants "anti liberal democrat?" I read through this thread and did not find one favorable review of the book. You would think that most Baptists would not like George W. Bush. First of all Bush is from a higher social class than most Baptists and Pentecostals. I bet if you took 10,000 baptist famlies and added up their net worth they would not have as much money as Bush. What do working class Baptists have in common with a "cocktail party, country club" republican like our president? Did you know that most baptists in the south in the 1950's were "yellow dog" democrats? You know a Harry Truman democrat. Truman always balanced the budget at the end of his term. The "yellow dog" democrats were baptists in the south who drove trucks for a living. They always voted for old Harry Truman.

I'm sorry. We are not discussing the Bible here. We are discussing politics. But since you asked, here are a few reasons I am conservative. I am pro-life (which is a conservative policy), anti-welfare state which encourages forcibly taking my money which I earned and giving it to those who didn't earn it and who will more than likely squander it instead of spending it on their families (which is a conservative policy). These are just a few things which I support as a conservative. How about you? You say you are a Conservative Republican. What Conservative Republican policies do you agree with? And why, as a conservative are you defending the writings of an extremist left wing wacko nut Democrat?

I have read through the New Testament and cannot find one single verse about voting republican. Why are most conservative protestants "anti liberal democrat?"
Because we don't agree with their values or policies. Many times, IMO, their values are non-Christian in nature (Homosexual rights, abortion, etc...). Are you pro-liberal Democrat? Why do you even ask?

I read through this thread and did not find one favorable review of the book.
That is because I do not have anything good to say about the book or about the author, except that he USED to be funny on SNL. Have you read the book or listened to him expound about his political beliefs and moral values? Do you agree with him? Do you have something good to say about him or his book? Well, if so, then say it and end the self-righteous sermon already.

Is this what this is all about? Class envy? Certainly you can find a better reason not to like Bush than the fact that you are jealous of him. If you want to have his money, go to college and work for it and earn it. Certainly you are not implying that the party of the Kennedys, Deans, Clintons, et al is the party of the poor, by the poor, and for the poor. Gimme a break.

So? Who cares what the majority is doing? What exactly is your point? And why did you hijack this thread from being about Al Franken's goofy book to an attack Bush thread? Are you just a liberal troll who has a problem telling the truth about who you are? Just wondering since your post seems sooo out of place within the context of this entire thread.

In some states you have claim one of the parties in order to vote in the primaries, if you claim independent you can't vote until the general election. That is why it is so important for 3rd parties to get 10%(?) of the vote in a general election so they will be on the ballot automaticlly next year. Just thought I would throw that in

Does Daisy not count?? She said he was knowledge, well spoken, and funny.

Scott said his research is well done and his methodology is "spot on."

In Arkansas you can vote in any party's primary. But if you vote in the Republican Party primary and the Democrat Party has a runoff you cannot vote in the Democrat Party runoff but only in the Republican Party runoff if there is one.

Well, Joseph, if being for limited, constitutional government makes me a liberal in your eyes, then so be it. :D

You are too kind. He's a moron. </font>
Actually, a moron is more highly developed than an idiot.

Howver, Franken is neither; he's among the more intellectual and intelligent of the political satirists.

And you have actual facts to back this aspersion up? Or even a single piece of evidence that the research is faulty, right?

    Yeah, he was and is!

Does Coulter bill herself as a satirist? I admit that I find her lies, distortions and gross exagerations irritating - I guess I didn't realise she was trying to be funny.

I must confess that I enjoyed Al Franken's show, "Lateline" back in 1998-99. The funniest bit was when his boss rigged it so an airbag would deploy while he was sitting in a car and then his boss had it looped to replay over and over and over. It was hilarious. [IMG]

I wouldn't have taken you for a Relativist. I would have thought that the truth of a fact did not vary depending on who spoke it. That is an interesting, way of dealing with the world.

That seems to be more projection than fact.

So the "core of the Democratic Party" is "extreme militant wacko left wing"? And you consider yourself to be "mainstream"?

Hmmm, well, I can only guess where you consider the center of the universe to be to wind up with such a skewed view. [IMG]

Your dislike of the man does not make him an "idiot". He is far from stupid (unlike certain presidents who shall remain nameless).

Taste in humor seems to be a personal matter.

I am not liberal at all in my political views. I am most likely the most conservative person on this thread. I was just trying to stimulate thinking in a tongue in cheek way. Obviously, most Christians are against abortion, gay rights, etc. so on those issues will vote republican. I just wonder about other issues. For instance, why do black baptists vote democrat and white baptists vote republican? Is Bush a conservative if he is making the national debt larger? I believe that balancing the budget is very important. Is out of control spending a democrat problem only? Bush is on course to put us farther in debt than ever before.

    </font>
Jimmy Carter graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with distinction and was selected by the great Admiral Rickover himself to help design the first nuclear powered ships and submarines in the world. So sorry to hear he doesn't measure up to your standards of excellence and service to his country.

How can you use the words Coulter and brilliant in the same sentence? This is, undoubtedly, one of the most ignorant statements I have ever read here at the Baptist Board. What a joke!
