Apologies to ask this...

...yes, I'm afraid another question about the ''end times''! (leave now if you wish)

I have heard people say in church and on this forum, about how in the end times there will be a One World Order or one global government. At our evening service a week ago the lay speaker said he believed we are in the end times, and pointed to a quote from Gordon Brown saying there was going to be 'one global system', relating to the world economy.

The trouble with this is I can't find anything which I consider directly makes this prophecy, however I have heard many people say it (Brits and Americans) that it seems accepted fact. Which specific verses/chapeters make this prophecy?

I am not sure but I think people get this from the statements about the Beast and the power he has in Revelation. It does not use the words "one world government" or anything like that. But it gives a picture suggesting there is one person very much in charge who is against God.

The Mark

We know that the Antichrist's reign will affect the entire planet, thus a global (one-world) reign and there are several aspects to the "beast system": political, economic and religious. Economically, it will have to do with our ability to buy or sell:

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16-17 KJVA)

It looks as if we are getting very close to that scenario.

For many years, and even to-day, many believe this to the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church. Others have attributed it to the World Council of Churches.........Both of these include the religious, the political and the financial control of the world.

I believe John, in Revelation, related this to the power of the Roman government of the time. It controlled both the known world and the religious body, which adopted many Roman features and built them into the church functions, such as Christmas et al.

Cheers,

Jim
