2 Timothy 3:1-7 (HCSB = Holman Christian Standard Bible):

1 But know this: difficult times will come in the last days.
2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,
4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to the form of religion but denying its power. Avoid these people!
6 For among them are those who worm their way into households and capture idle women burdened down with sins, led along by a variety of passions,
7 always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

When did the "last days" begin?
According to Peter in Acts 2:15-177 (HCSB):

For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it's only nine in the morning.
16 On the contrary, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
17 And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

The last days; AKA Church Age, Gentile Age,
age of grace; began on the Day of Pentacost, 33AD.
The last days continue even until now.
THe last days will continue until the pretribulation
rapture/resurrection of The Chruch, the Body of Christ, the Bride
    of Christ.

    Greg,

Then I will humbly submit a surprise
... if 10 times as many Baptists believe as do Catholics and 3% of the Catholics make it to heaven:

Catholics will outnumber Baptists ... in Heaven

I do not like their theology, but I have to wonder why ours is not doing God the glory He deserves ...

Quoted by mioque: Watch... Roman Catholicism is a form of Christianity. It just happens to have some truly freaky theology.

God seeks us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Although there is some, if you believe catholic teachings you will go to hell. They don’t even share the same Christ.

Quoted by Gold Dragon: As a Christian, I am not interested in the world wide religion part of the above. But unity, love and tolerance is very important to obeying Paul's words in Ephesians.

Not the worlds unity and tolerance you speak of. Your type is priming the worlds religions to merge. Truth(doctrine) no longer matters. Only love and tolerance. Well! Lets' just tiptoe through the tulips while remembering that we not only have a God of love but of righteousness and judgement! If you will notice everyones theology is accepted but we are considered intolerant for speaking the truth. This board is amazing! I can’t believe some of you actually call yourselves Baptists. This is RCC 101

    quote:

    NASB - Ephesians 4:1-6

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

Look at the verses you are quoting! Try reading them.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

Paul was talking of unity in the truth. There is ONE FAITH. Baptists do not hold the keys to heaven, but RCs’ don’t even know there are any. They teach a totally false doctrine and Gods’ Word condemns their theology.

It's not a debate. It's a fact that Catholicism is part of Christianity.

No. Sadly enough they have a different Christ and therefore are not Christians.

That isn't up to you to decide.

I don’t have to. God’s Word does it for us if you will read it!

Quoted by mioque: I'd like to see some neutral source on those 59 million.
Considering that it's the equivalent of the population of the roman empire at it's height.

It was 59 Million over the course of 400 years. Read the Trail of Blood. I will get the authors name for you. Or read history on the Dark Ages.

The heretical document “Trail of Blood is written by J. M. Carroll the brother of the founder of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. On his way to establish the popery of the Baptists he crossed some heretics on the way.

What do you think about some Baptists and a number of others found in Mt. 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, ` Lord , Lord ,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. "Many will say to Me on that day, ` Lord , Lord , did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.'

I was using it as reference. What is so heretical about it? Are it's facts incorrect? I have found that it was pretty accurate as far as exposing catholicisim for what it is. I don't know much about J.M. Carroll.

With the diversity of people that claim the name baptist I would not be surprised. I believe those verses are for the religious crowd. Those who think that truth is as important as love and tolerance.

I will say that truth leads the way to love. Without it all you have is empty religion.

My Opinion...Carroll's "Trail of Blood" is NOT heretical by any means, does NOT teach any such thing as Baptist "popery" or that ONLY Baptists are heaven bound. It simply traces the roots of the many groups of people, under various titles and names, who were distinctively "baptistic" in their doctrine and teaching, back to the time of Christ. It is good source material and truly stunning to note what these people suffered for the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ....not to mention at WHOSE hands they suffered such things....BOTH Catholic AND "Protestant".TRUE Baptists are NOT "protestant" and doctrinal purity that is TRUE to the Word of God and it's Author will always come at a HIGH PRICE in this world.Just ask Jesus...He would confirm that to be TRUE.Anyway...."Trail of Blood" is a good book, but it is a "work" of man and as such is subject to occasional errors. The only Infallible sourcebook is God's Word,The Holy Bible.Peace ya'll!Kudos to ya Soulman!

It sickens me too when truth and biblical doctrine don't seem to matter. For some only their denomination's (sub-denomination, church, individual, whoever the "us" is) version of the truth and doctrine, based on the interpretation of a few men on a few biblical passages, matters and everyone else (the "them") must be wrong about everything.

That is a good first step.

THE ALMANAC OF THE CHRISTIAN WORLD 1991-1992
    (Tyndale, 1990):

The figures given on p.502 (for 33AD to 1990AD):

All persons born ----- 34,903 million
    Christians ------------ 8,286 million
    Christian martyrs -------- 41 million
martyred by Catholics ----- 5 Million

Note the difference between 5 million
    and 59 million noted earlier

7 always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

    Let me clarify this passage.
The last days started (as shown in Acts 2) on the
Day of Pentacost 33AD. The last days will end at
    the pretribulation rapture/resurrection. The last
days are the Church age (AKA: Gentile Age or
    Age of Grace).

Therefore these signs are signs that the CHRUCH AGE
continues. As long as you see these signs, the Church
    Age is among us.

Strangely, during the Tribulation 7-year-Day, there
will be no apostasy. All will join together to worship
the beast. There will be no continuing-to-live discrepancy
    from workshiping the beast.

    I've read Trail of Blood.
Carroll's work is a piece of ideologically motivated pseudoscholarship in the same league as the produce of Erich von Däniken, Alexander Hislop, Immanuel Velikovsky and Alberto Rivera.

Two men were walking the streets of gold one day and they happened upon a very large and high fence. One asked the other what the fence was all about. The second fellow said, "SHHH! Those are the (insert denomination here). They think they are the only ones here!"

I think we will all be surprised to see who is actually there and who is not.

Hey, anybody know if any of the papal candidates are from the Benedictine order? And does anybody know the "real" reason why Jimmy Carter didn't go to Rome (ie, didn't want to honor the papacy?)? Thanks.

    "
None of the serious favorites are. Ofcourse that doesn't mean much when it comes to papal elections. they are notoriously unpredictable.

Thank you for the correction Ed. That was really not the point of my post though.

I don't know any of them. The booklets point was to expose Catholicisim and the utter hatred twards Christians who nowadays can't wait to embrace them as bretheren.
