    Chris and Tom,

I'm still interested in hearing where dispensationalism and Calvinism are incompatible. The book recommendation is much appreciated, but it's not going to climb into the top 10 on my "To Read" list until someone proves its value by interacting with the issues.

    Pastor Larry,

You are correct that ' . . . there no inconsistency between the glory of God and dispensationalism.'

Covenant theology tends to blur the glory of God by demanding a one covenant theory. [Heb. 8:7]

I never said it was. All I did was point out that Gerstner's critique of dispensationalism that Pastor Larry referred to were written by staunchly dispensational seminaries and in staunchly dispensational journals.

DBTS is not hyper-dispensationalism. The dispensationalism taught at DBTS is of the Grace persuasion (where McClain taught and McCune had him; four three other profs got their doctoral work at Grace). It is different from Dallas dispensationalism in many ways, predominantly the Calvinism I believe. Interesting Chick that you came out a progressive. When did you take the class??

You are correct Pastor Larry, these labels can mean slightly different things to different people. I took the class in the early nineties, and found that my dispensationalism is not as rigid as McCune, but I am not totally enthralled with Blaising/Bock either.
