Are Christians Suppose To Be Political?

SHOULD CHRISTIANS BE INVOLVED IN POLITICS TO THE POINT THAT THEY THINK BY DOING SO THEY WILL CHANGE OUR SOCIETY AND IT'S MORALS?

I say NO!...All I see when individuals get so wrapped up in trying to MORALIZE our society is a lot of anger, disdain and hatred for those God has ordained to be in leadership. Even David in the bible didn't usurp or try and get rid of God's anointed although chosen by the people..... SAUL...David RESPECTED his position of authority and waited for God's timing. We are living in the end times according to scripture and prophecy, there is nothing that needs to be fulfilled for Christ to come back...I personally believe in the rapture, so that would be the next event that needs to take place before the tribulation.

Think about it...in order for the fulfillment of the book of Revelation to take place, things need to get worse, there needs to be dissolving of morals, and a mindset of a "one world Government'....and much more of what the bible talks about. The problem most Christians have who are too political is they think we are called to change the world, that we are called to change the world morals and make the world turn to God. If you can find that in the bible please show me?

All I can find in scripture is that we are to OBEY the Government and what God has ordained Romans 13...we are called to RESPECT those God has placed over us, even though we don't agree with what they do or what they believe. This is Satan's world, his dominion, our home is in heaven and that is where our TREASURE and heart should be, that is where our focus should be. Yes, we should vote our conscience and pay taxes, for even Jesus said, "render unto Caesar what is Caesars" etc. But our biggest involvement and focus should be the CHURCH the BODY of Christ.

Even Jesus didn't do that, all Jesus did was change ONE HEART AT A TIME. True repentance and true godliness and true morals come from within, not from without.

Christians should focus on the CORRUPTION WITHIN, not the corruption from without..."for they know not what they do," Jesus said. We are called to go into the world and preach the gospel and making converts so God can change people individually and by doing so as more and more come to KNOW Him, they become more like Christ, then the world will see a DIFFERENCE and they would want that change as well...that is how you moralize a community, a state, a country.

Sad thing is the church isn't doing it's job within it's own body, so why does anyone think they can change the world?...lol

Jesus told His disciples..."LOVE ONE ANOTHER and by this all men will know you are my disciples"...that is what we are called to do. To LOVE, to FORGIVE, to hold those in the body ACCOUNTABLE, to SERVE one another, to GIVE...basically to be like Christ. Maybe if the church got that down pat...the world and our society may have a different view of God and Christians than it does now?

Over time Christians appear to have allowed the world to twist their thinking that the political arena is the most influential place to be.

When historically, it was the church. The people in the church were the ones driving the direction of society and they were the ones in the positions of leadership.

As we have moved farther from God, politics has moved into the position the church used to hold in our communities.

The way to change the moral compass of society is through the word of God. Always has been. And when God's people begin to think those changes are to be made via politics, it becomes problematic on so many different levels.

Politics is more about powering over people whereas the church is to be about loving people as we love Christ.

Yes, but we are no longer a Christian nation as much as A "POLITICALLY CORRECT" ONE.

We lost that when prayer was taken out of the schools in 1961...through atheism. Just like throughout history God has put into position those who are godly and those who are not...but you will not find where God has ever called His people to change that which He has allowed when it comes to leadership unless it is within the body...He set His people apart to be DIFFERENT that is all.

What I said was true...like I said if you can biblically show otherwise....my op stands.

So true. That one just eats me up. God is very clear that we are to be doing this, but we wanna complain that the government takes our tax dollars to do what the church wasn't doing.

When I was in my mid 20s I was born again, and became even more determined to not vote.

I am in my 60's, and am a naturalized citizen of this country and this is the only country I ever cast a ballot for anyone.
That was last election.
Sadly, the guy I really wanted to vote for did not make it in the running, and the only choice left did not even lift a finger in protest of all the fraud that went on and decided to just go fill his tank up.

Believers didn't enter the political ring to change society and morals, they get into it because God called them into that area. They are simply being obedient like Joseph, Moses and Daniel.

So you're saying that we should simply allow the world to get worse and worse so that the rapture can happen? What if Jesus doesn't return for another 500 years? Do we simply let it get worse beause we are hastening the rapture?

I am also pre-everything, but the time of Christ's return has been set by God's decree since before the world was created.

I believe preaching the Gospel and reaching people with the amazing life changing salvation will do more to affect our nation than any politician. But if a believer - and we have a local county commissioner in our church - gets involved in politics to make a difference, I am going to celebrate them, pray for them and give to their campaigns.

Should they to change morals, no. We don't change morals with laws, we change morals with the gospel.

Yes we are supposed to be involved in our communities in every possible way. We can either hide in a cave or be salt and light.
