Everyone has the right to follow his/her own views, but I strongly disagree that Jim's views are not Biblical. IMHO, Jim's views are always Biblical and give us cause to learn spiritual truths. It is most important that we respect the wisdom of our learned elders of whom Jim is an excellent example.Originally posted by Headcoveredlady:
Jim,
... You have views that are not Biblical and your views are not views I follow....
I have a gradmother who is unsaved. She is a very nice woman and knows a lot of interesting things. However, when it comes to spiritual advice I do not go to her.Originally posted by Thankful:

jim, is there a good non-literal way to take this?Originally posted by Jim1999:
one must take every word literally to be scriptural?

1 Timothy 2:9, "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel"
Are Coulottes "Spiritual"?
No, because believe me when I am in a pair of culottes, there is no doubt about it, therefore, there is no deception or dishonesty.Since coulottes are made to appear like skirts (some even having flaps to hide the split in the legs), are not those who wear them being dishonest about what they are wearing?
And you really think a skirt would be more modest??? The snow might get on the thighs, but it certainly doesn't go any higher with culottes on rather than a dress. But it was a funny night the night the youth group went snow skiing and the girls had to wear coulottes. You talk about immodest and uncomfortable. That snow on the inner thigh ain't a good thing.

I will repeat: Nothing that we WEAR makes us spiritual. What is in our HEARTS makes us spiritual.
John 13: 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded
Wearing NOTHING makes you unspiritual. What is in our hearts is reflected in what we wear. I would rather be like some on here that have a desire to be modest, than some who want to see how close they can come to being immodest without actually stepping over the line. (The line is somewhere between wearing NOTHING and not exposing one DNA molecule of humanity.)Originally posted by I Am Blessed 16:

Genesis 2:25
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Here's an example of a naked prophet......Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden
1 Samuel 19:18 So David fled and escaped, and went to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth. 19 Now it was told Saul, saying, "Take note, David is at Naioth in Ramah!" 20 Then Saul sent messengers to take David. And when they saw the group of prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as leader over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. 21 And when Saul was told, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. Then Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also. 22 Then he also went to Ramah, and came to the great well that is at Sechu. So he asked, and said, "Where are Samuel and David?" And someone said, "Indeed they are at Naioth in Ramah." 23 So he went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on and prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah. 24 And he also stripped off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"
