Though horascopes may be fony, be on the look out because satin is real and deception is his biggest ally. I personally do not believe satin is able to cast bad fortune or spells through his followers on chrstians and as christians we are not able to be posessed. But all of that is real and he can still decieve christians from descuising himself as an angel of light ,as the Bible qwotes. So just be aware that there are things that satin does around us that can affect us, unless we lean on Jesus.

I got a fortune cookie once that I thought was funny, but I didn't fully understand it:

In God we trust... all others must pay cash.

My Friend got one that said "Happiness is right beside you". He looked over at me, rolled his eyes, then tossed the fortune away. I thought it was really funny. [IMG]

People don't use common sense about astrology...How can stars a hundred and three ninety-eight bazillion miles away affect anything on earth? Shoot, the stars we see as constellations actually have nothing to do with each other! Look at one of the best-known constellations, Orion, and his dog, Sirius. Sirius, the brightest-appearing star we see(not counting the sun) is about 8 light-years from us, while the three belt stars are, from left to right, 815, 1350, and 916 light years from us, respectively, and aren't related to each other at all, except that they most likely formed from the same gas cloud. And the star Sirius, of course, has nothing to do with the stars in Orion.

The stars of the "Big Dipper" vary in distance from us from 6 to 360 light years away, and are not actually linked in any way. They just happen to be where they are. Whether GOD purposely caused the stars of any constellation to appear to form a pattern in the sky, I don't know. The ONLY thing they have in common is that, along with us, they are all part of the Milky Way galaxy, which is some 100K light years in diameter.

And the planets have absolutely nothing to do with the distant stars, and have next to no effect upon the sun. If a planet rises within a given constellation, it's purely by chance, same as a high-flying jet's appearance within a constellation, or its passage across the moon as seen by us on the ground.

    Astrology is a man-made humbug.

Mine said, "That was not really chicken"

Hmm? I wonder if this post will "magically disappear" at the hands of whom?

I quoted scripture in the response to the question, it was then deleted? Hmmm?

Here it is again: "Whatsoever is not of righteousness is sin"

Are horoscopes righteous? Thinkest thou me NOT!

So the lottery is $111 million tomorrow night. Wonder if the stars will tell me if I should waste a dollar. [IMG]

Look at what it says on any coin or bill in your wallet or pocket...In God We Trust.

It was a sarsactic Fortune cookie!

Or it could mean WE believers trust God to provide and those who don't must pay as they go, which brings me back to my original thought.

    It's a sarcastic Fortune cookie!:)

Diane: If the psychics were real, they would win the lottery every week! [IMG]

We have a psychic living in the next town and she does a hefty business.

How come she didn't know her house was gonna burn down???

They are! Those "stars" who promote and make a killing off the lottery, better go read your "horror"scope to be sure you don't "sin" and win! er, lose. [IMG]

I am a former professional astrologer, was president of the astrological society and taught astrology. I can really speak to this issue.

Horoscopes are usuallly based on the movement of the moon and then that info is synthesized with the sun signs and with positions of the other planets, usually the inner ones. Although they are very general and are presented as entertainment, they are usually written by psychics and/or astrologers.

Professional astrologers consider horoscope columns to be watered down astrology, but it is still true that the tenets of astrology are used to write them. This has nothing to do with whether they work or not.

And while it is true that astrology today is mostly more of a personality insight counseling session, that info is based on the false belief of astrology about the planets, sun, and moon having a meaning in your life according to their positoins at your time of birth.

Since God is so clear in condemning astrology and divination (read the last few verses of Is. 47), I strongly advise Christians not to read the horoscope columns. Just because you read it for fun or don't believe it does not make it okay.

There is a spiritual evil behind astrology -- I can personally attest to that. But even if you didn't believe that -- just read God's word on it.

And it is one of Satan's devious tricks to make evil things appear harmless and fun, so that we can dismiss it and take it lightly.

Unfortunately, a lot of Christians laugh at this, never knowing what bondage some people are in due to these things. I cannnot even begin to tell you all the stuff that happened to me when I was an astrologer and its effect on me and my clients. It opens the door to a lot of other evil stuff, too. Sometimes astrology is just the gateway to that. Astrology is used across the board in all occult systems.

And it's a known belief among psychics (and psychics and astrolgers are not always the same though often astrologers are psychic) that a psychic cannot "read" for him/herself, so he/she would not be able to pick lottery numbers or know her/his house would burn down.

There are 2 classes of people here -- the scam artists and those seriously into astrology, being a psychic, tarot cards, etc. Christians should not get them mixed up.

    Thanks I Am Blessed!

For those interested in astrology from the view of a former astrologer, now saved (that would be me! [IMG] ), see these 2 articles:

    Shorter article
    http://cana.userworld.com/cana_astrology.html

    Longer article (published offsite)
    http://www.watchman.org/profile/astropro.htm

For my response to questions about astrology and the Magi, see
    http://cana.userworld.com/cana_faqs.html

For my testimony (amazingly, God got me to stop practicing astrology before I was saved!), see
    http://cana.userworld.com/cana_spiritualjourney.html

Many of my former friends and colleagues are still in the darkness, though they feel they are on a spiritual path, just as I did. :(

    Astrology is fascinating and evil.
