    Thankfull

I was raised catholic and attended sunday school the differences in opinion is probably the same reason my father and I and even my Grandmother always had disagreement on things just as we see now the church teaching different again. I am happy to say since my parents finally started to read there Bible they have accepted the Lord Jesus as their Savior this summer the more they read the more they see the lies that have been taught them.

As in all religious organizations, teaching varies from congregation to congregation. So it is in the Roman Catholic Church. Parish priests differ on how one becomes a Christian.

If one reads the old Anglican Prayer Book, it appears that they teach baptismal regeneration, and even some Anglicans to-day believe that. It, however, is not the teaching of the Anglican Church.

Salvation is always one on one. What must I DO to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is that simple and also that complex.....as we learn by further study. We know that that redemtion involves regeneration, conviction, conversion and repentance,,,,,,but the first time believer only knows that he has accepted the free gift offered by the Lord unto his personal salvation. From there he must grow in that Lord and in the knowledge of His Word.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Jim1999,

    Great post.
Heaven, I think, will be full of surprises for us.
Catholic Christians such as Peter Kreeft, Thomas Howard, G.K. Chesterton, Malcolm Muggeridge, J.R.R. Tolkien, Flannery O'Connor, have helped me a great deal. Not to mention high-church Anglicans such as C.S. Lewis.
And they didn't or don't believe many errors common to small-town cultural Catholicism in places like Missouri.

As an institution, yes, the Catholic Church has and still does teach a great deal of error. And hard for a Baptist like me to forget the persecution outlined in books like Foxe's Book of Martyrs.
But there will be a vast number of Catholics in Heaven who trusted Jesus.

And sometimes, not as many Baptists as we would have thought. Most of my pastors have preached on the stated assumption that one-third or more of the resident membership of my church and of many Baptist churches is actually unsaved.
Several years ago, the minister of evangelism, of all things, of a neighbor SBC church, came forward to receive Christ.
