Are The Laws Done Away With?

Servant Morris

New Member
This subject in my opinion, is of #2 importance when it comes to putting on the whole armour of God. I've grown up in an environment that expressed that it wasn't required or expedient to keep the laws of God. I attempt to shed light on the subject with this two part video.
God Bless!

Without seeing the video, Romans 3:31 says no, ". . . Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. . . ."

I skipped through the video and I believe this might be a Hebrew Roots (HR) presentation or at least a presentation affected by HR teaching.

If it is HR then it is an offshoot of Armstrong's World Tomorrow and denies the Trinity and the deity of Christ.

Whether or not HR a denial of either the Trinity or the deity of Christ is unacceptable.

I think we should discuss those doctrine before any other.
It might make a difference as to where this discussion takes place i.e. Is Servant Morris a Baptist or should this discussion take place in a NON-BAPTIST FORUM?

No disagreement. But a change should be noted.

In the current editions of the Kingdom of the Cults, Appendix A: The Worldwide Church of God: From Cult to Christianity.

I didn't check out the video, but a OP like this is nearly always there to creep up on the sabbath.

False news. Be careful, not Trinitarian.

The original Armstrong group did become Trinitarian Orthodox, but still retained some peculiarities of doctrine, even though not enough for Martin to continue labeling them as a cult (same as he did with the SDAs).

However, those who continued to maintain the original Armstrong-type doctrines broke away and splintered into a dozen or more separate groups, each being binitarian, 7th day, plus other mixed views otherwise found among the Mormons, JWs, and Christian Scientists as well as keeping as many aspects of the OT law as possible.

Judge the video on that basis (and no, I didn't watch it).

Hi Ziggy, I watched it and began skipping around in the video and it appears to be a Hebrews Roots (HR) based video.

I would like Servant Morris to present his position concerning the Trinity and the deity of Christ before becoming involved with a discussion of Law keeping.

Since the WCG went Trinitian about some 100 splinter groups left that church.

"God/Holy Spirit/The Trinity. (under Tkach) -- "Do let me summarize, and I hope to make this crystal clear. Our old literature taught that there are two god beings in one God Family, each composed of Holy Spirit. That teaching, which implied that there are two Gods, is not biblical. The Bible teaches that there is one God, not two. "The Bible does not teach that God is a family name, with two God Beings in that family right now, and billions to come later. The Bible teaches that the one and same God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" (Pastor General's Report, July 27, 1993, p. 4)."

Yes there are many off shoots - Hebrew Roots (HR) is one (actually several versions) of break away from Armstrongism. Even of the "trinitarians" so called - many maybe most, possibly all are Modalists off sorts. after talking with one you see that right away.

We had a member of our church go into the HR Movement and leave. I could not convince him otherwise.

So as a Modalist is to say that they deny that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are distinct Persons.

Van Til is a Trinitarian who has at times wrongly been accused of Modalism.

Yes modalists define Father Son and the Holy Spirit as separate roles played by one God rather than three distinct persons in one divine essence.
