Are there ANY pentacostal/Charasmatic teachers you deem to be Credible?

Or do you see ALl as being either heretical or else just bad doctrine teaching period?

I have known some at the local church level who I consider credible or non-heretical. Some of the smaller independent charismatic churches were very close to Baptist in regard to salvation and other issues. If you go back 30+ years any prayer for healing in SBC church that went beyond granting wisdom to the surgeons or doctors or simply "Your will be done" could and did cause a Church splits among Baptists. So many Baptists migrated to Bapticostal churches or started a new Baptist Church down the street that in that day would be seen as Charismatic-lite.

But in my opinion some of the Assemblies of God and Church of God Pentecostals did not fall into heresy any more than any off-shoot of other conservative Wesleyans. The problem is the loudest and most well publicized Charismatics and Pentecostal leaders and teachers either fall into heresies or were pulled down by their own fame, success and pride.

An exception to that might be Jack Hayford. I don't agree with everything he says and I haven't done a background check or studied his definition of the Godhead, but he seems sqaured away and as if he has not fallen into the craziness that some others have. I haven't seen him in over a year and then not very often, but my impression is reasonably good.

have you read the book by Jack Deere, former professor at DTS, Surprised by the power of the Holy Spirit?

Do NOT agree with all he wrote, but still think worthwile from a charasmatic baptist position !

I don't limit my reading to authors that agree with me.

Gordon Fee is a pentacostal and an author of many excellent books.

To name a few top notch titles I'd recommend are:

How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth

The First Epistle to the Corinthians (New International Commentary on the New Testament)

Rob
I knew an Assemblies pastor who held to what he believed the Bible taught which is what so many Baptists state in their doctrinal statements. I think we would be surprised how many members in Baptist churches do not agree with the church doctrinal statement where they are members.

Deere is not Baptist, or were you talking about yourself?

Myself, as especially think reading the chapter on just how famous treachers of the past explained that aprt of their ministry seemed to have the "supernatural" aspects from/of the HS involved in it, as at times the Lord went outside of our "preconceived box" placed God in!
