Sometimes can the miracle be for those who see, and not for those the miracle is happening to?

    Sherrie,
I do not know. I just do not see the type of miracles today that I read about in the bible. My complaint is not with whether or not God decides to perform a miracle or not. That is well within His power. My problem is when churches, especially charismatic churches, use the lure of a "healing" and therby give people false hope.

    Terry,
I agree with you on that. There is no question in my mind, that, that kind of "miracle" is wrong, or is an abused of using the word for that.

But there are real miracles that happen everyday. They are the miracles that are the reminders that God is there.

A man can travel all over the world looking for proof that God is real. And he can search a long time and never see it.

But right in front of him everyday miracles are there. He is blinded by his own doubts and fears. And he cannot see those things God has for him to see. (And I am not implying anyone paticular. I am talking in general.)

    But everyday they happen.

But you want to see visible proof. Only thing I can do is tell you I saw my husband dead...and pronounced dead and then come back to life.

But better yet...every time you see, or hear about a person getting saved...you are seeing a miracle. Changing over from dead in sin; to alive in Christ.

    Jesus is that miracle.

One of the Bible dictionaries I have says, "miracle is the expressions of Gods salvation and glory."

I am going to leave this as it is. I have more I want to say, but I am afraid I will go too deep in thought. I will leave this for others to discuss.

Terry, there have been a number of people who have gotten up a Benny Hinn crusades, claiming to be healed, and later died.

People want to be healed so much that they cannot accept the answer. I have a friend who claims to have been healed, yer her tests still show the problem.

I think Timothy is a good example. Paul advises him to take a little wine for his sick stomach, rather than healing him, yet we know that others were being healed at the same time.

We need to pray for what is in Gods will to be done. Even though we dont want a certain outcome, yet if that is Gods will then that is what it is to be, which is really hard to take sometimes.

anecdotal evidence does not a miracle make.

    Cheers,

I don't know if you will believe this or not; but it is absolutely true. I was mowing the lawn one Wednesday afternoon and was attempting to move a very heavy home-made picnic table out of the way. I dropped it on my foot and immediately my foot turned black and blue and swelled up to twice it's normal size.

I was determined to go to church that night, so I hobbled there wearing a rubber, thong sandal (it's the only thing that would fit over the swelling and not be too painful on the bruises).

While I was worshipping the Lord, I felt a tingle in my foot (my first thought was, "oh no, a blood clot is breaking lose and going to my heart".

I looked down and there was no swelling! There were no bruises! My foot was just as normal as it was before I hurt it.

Other people saw my foot when I hobbled into church and the same people saw it when I walked out. Praise the Lord!

Is that the kind of miracle you are talking about?

    Terry (and anyone else)

Miracles are the evidence that reveals Gods character, and His purpose. It is a powerful action from God. Its evidence is not mistaken. There are two types of miracles. The first type of miracle is “signs”, and the second type is “wonders”.

A sign (semeion) will point people to God. A sign will appeal to the understanding, and sometimes motivate faith. A sign function is to recognize, remember, or validates something. Its main purpose is to identify knowledge that is about Jesus to His relationship to God.

A wonder (teras) describes Gods supernatural activity. It designates something unusual that causes the beholder to marvel. It appeals to the imagination. It is Gods activity. It is a special manifestation of Gods power.

Miracles are one of the ten Spiritual gifts that are given to lift the church up to God. Gods’ mighty acts are His miracles that are established.

Jesus is that accomplished work of Gods, by which there is redemption for all of us.

(Now it is important to note; about False Prophets: Satan can use men as instruments to perform these signs and wonders.)

    Sue,
That is hard to believe, but I do not think you are lying. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I know, I need to go to church with you. Now, how long does it take to drive from Texas to Missouri...

Seriously, thank you for that encouraging, wonderful story. I will keep it in mind.

My ex-pastor once told me of a situation of a satinist that he knew, who was a paramedic on an ambulance, who would pray for people in the name of satin (deliberatley misspelt).

The world seems keen to replicate healings with various new age techniques. It is simply people searching for answers, answers that we are privilidged to have.

    Ben W,
Why would you deliberately misspell satan's name?
