Are there Missionary Baptist that practice like the original Regular Baptist ?

I have seen folks make the statements that the Missionary Baptist are the true'' Regular Baptist''. I have found some that have adopted their Confessions of Faith , and preach their doctrine to some extent , but I have not found one that has retained the early practices of the Regular Baptist, most are just a modern Baptist that have adopted the London Confession of Faith 1689. I would love to visit one that sings and preaches like the early Baptist and that has kept itself pure of the innovations of man. I do not doubt that most Baptist Churches have some historical tie or ties to the Separate or Regular Baptist but in their current condition , they are unrecognizable to the early American Baptist. Does anyone know of an historical practicing Missionary Baptist Church? A church that trace themselves back and remains true to the original Doctrine, Faith and Practice of the early American Baptist. Thank You , Brother Slone

If I were looking, I would look among the black Missionary Baptists. I know some churches here in East Texas that have maintained the occasional use of lining. I am not saying these particular ones are like the Old Regulars, just that if these here have maintained that one practice, even though only occasionally, one might find some churches somewhere that have kept other parts of the old faith and practice.

I do not doubt that most Baptist Churches have some historical tie or ties to the Separate or Regular Baptist but in their current condition , they are unrecognizable to the early American Baptist.

I've read old books about early Baptists and I find myself agreeing with you very much.

But in my entire 42+ years of being a believer, I have never been in a Baptist church ( or heard of one within a hundred miles of my area ) that even remotely resembles the ones from 200 years ago in the USA, never mind what I see in the epistles.

It seems to me that there might be a few left somewhere down in the hills of Kentucky ( oh, wait...you're from Kentucky...nvm ) or West Virginia, but nothing in Iowa or Illinois that I'm aware of.

Does anyone know of an historical practicing Missionary Baptist Church? A church that trace themselves back and remains true to the original Doctrine, Faith and Practice of the early American Baptist. Thank You , Brother Slone

Most Baptists in the U.S.A. are historically "Regular Baptist" if they are not Free Will Baptists. So the GARBC would go back through the Regular Baptists of the North to connect historically to those such as the first association, the Philadelphia Baptist Associations, and on back to the Particular Baptists in England. The term "Regular" is not as prominent as it once was, but often finds vent in various documents. For example, quite a number of associations in the South have some phrase like this in their constitutions -- "This Association shall be composed of Regular Missionary Baptist churches." Some Primitive Baptist associations in the North actually have "Regular Baptist" in their official name rather than Primitive Baptist.

Yes, that is a Sailor in a USS Suribachi [AE21] Ball Cap. There are some Regular Baptist in Iowa they would have many of the traits of the original Regular Baptist , I don't know if they have line singing they would be in fellowship with the old line Primitive Baptist some may use the name Regular Baptist and Primitive Baptist inter changeably .

All the above is factual, I have heard and seen statements that the Missionary Baptist are the true ''Old'' Regular Baptist , I have found some that actually hold the doctrine closer than some that call themselves Old Regular or Primitive [a minority] , I have found none that have a worship style or practice like the Regular or Separate Baptist of yesteryear, they have all the auxiliaries and practices of the modern church systems. So I would like to find those that hold the original, faith and practice of the original Baptist Bodies in the United States. I have seen Brothers that refer to the Old Regular Baptist as anti-missionary and I think what they mean as we are anti-missionary board or modern missions. I would say almost all our Brothers in the ministry travel hundreds to thousands of miles a year visiting Sister Churches or helping establish new Churches in different sections of the Country or working to re-establish Churches or helping those in decline. We all try to do the work of an evangelist not sending and paying someone else to go on our behalf. We are upon ordination free to preach the gospel wherever God in his wisdom doth cast his lot, Baptize, establish Churches ordain Elders and Deacons, many establish their own Circuit Rides . I used to go from Liberty, Ky on the second to Ada, Ohio on the first, then to Attica , Ohio on the fourth or over to Licking River, in Royalton, Ky . I kept a like schedule for many years in the meantime work as a Respiratory Therapist and help my wife maintain a farm and a therapeutic foster home. My home Church is a Philadelphia Confession Church and continues the original practice more Separate than Regular on issues like feet washing but more Regular on the laying on of hands.

Once upon a time ago, I was a sailor as well;
Joined in 1987, did my active at NAS Miramar and I finished out as an AE2 in the Reserves in 1997.

No idea why I did it, except that I wanted to see what was "out there" and needed money for college.

I imagine the Lord had His reasons for allowing me to do it...
I did learn a lot, and gained valuable experience that later helped me to get my current job.

Eldon is about 130 miles from me...long way to go for fellowship.
Winterset is even farther...209 miles.

I'll stick it out here and wait on the Lord.
He specializes in the impossible.
For right now, He's given me a good brother to edify, so we're doing OK.

Also, I'm looking and praying for Him to raise up a faithful church in my area, and I have confidence that he will.
