"as unto babes" That is plural. He was speaking to the church, not an individual. The church came across as carnal because of the collective actions of those at Corinth. No individual believer has ever been called carnal in the scriptures. No true believer can practice sin. 1John 3
The "you" is individual (but used collectively). The comparison is "as unto babes". 1 Cor 3:1
Stick to Paul and it will eliminate confusion. The Gentiles had little or no knowledge whatsoever of "the Law".
Their "human nature" (the Old Man) took control of their life; they were as "mere men" in that they were driven by their EGO.
As well, in Corinth such things as drinking and prostitution were culturally considered "normal" and acceptable.
They were not "tapping in" to the Christ within. They were not SPIRITUAL. They could not understand spiritual things.
A spiritual Christian loses interest in "carnality" naturally, no need for "laws", "commandments", etc.
