Are we all vicars of Christ?

1. Can you show that any of your allegations against that historian are true?

#2. Is it your belief that not only are all protestant historians wrong - but so are all Catholic historians that admit to historic facts / details that you would prefer not to see in print??

Do you see that your reponse fits with where the questions in my previous post "were going"????

You have no actual evidence that Bokenkotter is not a well respected historian and best-selling author. So you take "whatever is said" to avoid the historic "details" listed in the book.

However what is said - relies on you rejecting EVERY HISTORIAN that is not Catholic AND ALSO EVERY CATHOLIC HISTORIAN that is not "certain KIND of Catholic".

Can you say "censorship" and "cover-up"??

What if cult members of some other church did that? Wouldnt you condemn Mormons for that kind of practice EVEN to the point of reject THEIR OWN MORMON historians if they "admit too much" about history???

Bokenkotter IS NOT an EX-Catholic NOR is he a member of some Catholic-offshoot NOR is he the founder of some alternat-RC-doctrinal movement. He is a well-known, well-respected, Catholic historian that "admits to too many details" for some Catholics to feel comfortable.

Surely that has to get your attention.

In Christ,

Bob

Ok then ...what about in the book of John where Jesus is talking about the Holy Ghost?

John 14:26 -
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:7 -
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
This is the TRUE representative of Christ on earth - that CHRIST left here in HIS place.

Christ said "I WILL SEND ANOTHER" like HIMSELF!!

IS it not fitting that GOD leaves another person of the GODHEAD as His representative ON EARTH??!!

What is not to like??

In Christ,

John 16:7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
John16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
Isn't this really the main challenge we face as Christians - learning how to be instruments of the Holy Spirit (and thus agents of Christ on earth)? Our flesh just isn't tuned into spiritual things and never will be. So, we get sidetracked by things we can see and hear and feel: pastors, popes, priests, beautiful church buildings, pretty music, awe-inspiring choirs, warm fuzzy feelings, fancy robes and suits, insence, idols, steeples. And if this doesn't get us then there are things like houses, cars, jobs, money, TV, sex, and the list goes on and on.

But if we would stop focusing on all the stuff we can see and feel, and start tuning into the presence of God dwelling in us (oh how we take that for granted!!! :( ), then we would truly be led into all truth! And most of our arguments would cease!!
And talk about agents of Christ on earth!!!

You see, we usually think that it would be awesome if Jesus could just be physically with us again and settle all of our disputes and make things right in His church. But, He said it was for our good that He left, and He meant it! Now instead of trying to teach us from the outside how we should behave, He comes and dwells within us, to change us from the inside out! And He can do this all over the world simultaneously instead of with just twelve guys over in the Middle East.

Now, of course, this is Satan's nightmare. The last thing he wants is for us to be filled with the Holy Spirit and thus being agents for Christ on earth, destroying the works of the devil. So, he sends distractions. And perhaps the most effective distraction is to set up some man on earth who claims to be in the seat of Christ, who can continue to try to do what Christ said He was going to stop doing since He was sending Someone (the Holy Spirit) to do that job more effectively.

drspinko...I think you hit the nail right on the head especially when you said:

The bible says we are ambassadors of Christ.
