There is no 7 year tribulation period mentioned in scripture.

There is a "great tribulation" mentioned in Matt 24 prior to the rapture of the church - mentioned in Matt 24 as God "gathering his saints".

To some extent the 1260 years of the dark was a great tribulation that lasted much longer than any present of future one ever could.

But at the same time - it is worth noting that we did not get to our first BILLION people alive at one time until 1800.

So much WORSE things (in terms of the scale and numbers) can happen now than even happened in the dark ages.
