If you are rude and refuse to give the info to "us" the door to door worker and have no neighbor we can go to...
So some of the census "data" is going to be based on asking neighbors the questions?
For real?
Questions about race?
Questions about relationship of household members?
Questions about mortgages and rent and who knows what else?
Shades of George Orwell.
And this is brought to us by the same people that are upset about Arizona asking illegal immigrants to show a drivers license.

So, MK, will you be leading them in the Census cheer...
"2, 4, 6, 8...
...Everyone Enumerate!"
I've never seen so much paperwork in my life. For one apartment complex where there was an error in the address list that listed the wrong house number, I had to fill out 33 EQs deleting the wrong addresses, and then fill out more paperwork to add the correct ones. And then I had to do a D-225 explaining why I did that.
..don't post anyone's names, locations, or other PII or Title 13 information.

- I had a shady apartment manager in the ghetto offer me a beer and he offered to hook me up with a hooker. Needless to say, I declined on both counts. He also told me to not go to one apartment and to not ask him about it. He also told me that he got a sexually transmitted disease from a Census employee when he was a teenager.
33 EQs ?
D-225 ?
PII ?
Title 13 ?
Dude, you have become quite the low level government bureaucrat !!
I can see that you have a future career here.
Which is the more attractive feature to you ?
Being paid more than the job is worth ?
The feeling of petty power over complete strangers?
The chance to report complete strangers to government authorities on a whim?
We can't report anything to anyone except sworn Census Bureau employees with a need to know.
How about, is the Census worker being nice to y'all? Are ya'll being nice to the Census worker that's been visiting your neighborhood?
"Then he said something about my clothing and if I wasn't hot in my sweatsuit and if my back hurt and would I like a backrub. I of course said "No!" and then at that point is when he asked me if I was wearing pink underwear as well."
"On several occasions he kind of touched himself"
The man she thought must be an impersonator turned out to be legitimate.
"We did ensure that this person was taken care of and handled."
That does illustrate one issue: Census work ain't always the safest thing to do. Stay safe.

You still haven't demonstrated that they have a need to know this information.
Yes, I have. You have ears and refuse to hear.
No you haven't. You haven't given one Constitutionally supported reason why the government "needs" this information.
I'm still waiting for you to explain why the government needs to know the details of a transaction between a private individual and his bank, or what provision in the Constitution gives the government the authority to snoop into these things.

The government could choose to operate completely blind (not that we would be able to tell a huge difference at times), or it could just guess. Or our representatives could just wheel and deal for the best they can get for their districts no matter how few are in it or how low the needs actually are.
Instead of this the government uses the data collected by the Census to know all kinds of things. How many people live in an area. The general ages of an area. Whether a particular area is growing or shrinking in population. How many people are in a mortgage and owe money on their homes.
The racial makeup of the population of an area which could be used to better gage the needs of these people.
How many people are permanent residents and how many are transient. The general number of adopted and Foster children in an area. The number of single parent households in an area.
The number of non-English speakers in an area.
None of this may matter much to you, and you have the right to refuse to answer anything asked of you, but something will be recorded in order to fulfill the mandate of the Constitution. While getting whatever information that can be gotten though other sources is not preferred, it will be gotten regardless. There is no malice involved in the mater... the Census is ordered to go and record, period.
I had a real problem with the Census at first, but after going through the training and better understanding the process and reasons behind it I no longer have any problem with it at all.
I know the information will be compiled into statistics and then used to better help the government do its job
even if I don't necessarily agree with the job it is doing or who is calling the shots for it.
