Arizonans Rally to Prevent Westboro Church

These people make me sick to the point that I wish someone would just hire a sniper and take them all out at their next "gathering". But that is not a Christ-like attitude and I have to repent of that - EVERY single time I hear about them threatening to picket funerals.

What makes me the sickest of all is that so many non-believers lump those people with true believers and consider us all to the of the same mold.

This "church" disgusts me. I cannot perceive nor understand how they could be this far off track and so full of hate.

This is unbelievable.

I think that it is far past time for the *True Church* to rise up and be Angels of Comfort to those grieving the loss of someone dear to them...

After all, while it may be too late for the deceased...

There is still time to win the lost...

And, using condemnatory hate speech, as does Westboro, is doing nothing but using the accuser of the brethrens playbook...

Not sure when it will happen...and I'm in no way defending vigilante justice...

But I foresee coming a day when these inbred goons will show up, and the police will be either unwilling, or unable, to protect them from the anger that will boil over from a nearby crowd.

It's gonna get real ugly, real soon, I fear...

I pray that these reprobates at Westboro will get saved. Through Christ, they can forsake the hatred the likes of which I have seldom seen.

Westboro is one church that I definitely wish they'd drop the word Baptist from their name!!

They certainly don't speak for any Baptists that I know of.

How much better it would be for them to spend as much time, money and effort spreading the true Gospel of Christ rather than their message of hate.

Know this feeling very well - unfortunately!!

It looks like a National conservative radio host has stepped in and diffused this. I wonder if he'll get credit.

A Westboro Baptist Church official said Wednesday morning that supporters will not picket the funerals of victims of last weekend's shooting spree in Tucson.
Church spokeswoman Shirley Phelps-Roper told The Republic by phone from its Westboro's Topeka, Kan., headquarters that plans to appear in Arizona have been dropped in exchange for appearances on two conservative radio talk shows, one national and another based in Phoenix.
"If I can use my show to prevent them from disrupting these funerals I view that as positive, even though I find their message reprehensible," said Mike Gallagher, whose national talk show airs on KKNT - 960 AM radio in Phoenix....

Stand by for the spin afterwords...

No doubt libs will be saying that conservatives support Westboro and their actions - because they "are regulars on conservative talk radio".

I don't recall hearing anyone here, right, left or middle speak in support of Westboro ( I refuse to call them Baptist or a church). Their disguising behavior might be one thing all spectrum's of politics agree on.

When I said "libs" I was thinking "media talking heads".

My point is that I have never heard anyone support the Westboro gang. They are obnoxious!

And my point is that once they have been on a couple of conservative talk radio shows the liberal talking heads will say that conservative talk radio supports Westboro's actions "because they have them on their talk radio shows".

They probably will. These shows, both right and left, use every opportunity to increase the size of their audience. Nothing does this as well as a controversy.
