As often as you drink it

I may have asked this question before, but if I got a satisfactory answer I guess I wouldn't be posting it again.

1 Corinthians 11:25
In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Does this mean that as often as we drink wine/grape juice (I believe wine, but I don't want to get sidetracked on that), we should do it in remembrance of Him? Even in informal settings?

When you drink a grape beverage, remember Christ....

I think the scripture you quoted was in direct relation to the Lords supper only as this is what Paul is addressing.

However I also believe Paul took the principle of Christs words and applied to it to ALL things that we do, as Helen shows from the scriptures.

No, as often as you drink of the cup. There were a lot more things in the cup besides wine/grape juice. When Jesus took the cup he said this is my blood that is shed for many for the remission of their sin. Everything that Jesus did to save your soul is in that cup. When you drink of the cup, you are drinking in rememberance of those things.

So let me get this straight. You want to know if every time you sit down at the bar to put back a glass of house wine sitting next to an individual of whom you have no association, should you remember Christ? You want to know if every time you go over to your neighbors house and sit around a fire and sip a glass of red wine, should you do it in remembrance of Christ? You want to know every time you wake up in the middle of night and go into the kitchen and open the frig to get a glass of cold grape juice to quench your thirst, should you do it in remembrance of Christ?

My question to you would be what do the above scenarios do that honors Christ memory?

No I do not think that Christ meant that, he had a sacred quality in mind when he said that we should remember him. The Super has a specific task and is to be performed under specific circumstances within a defined group.

It's not the scenario that honors Christ, its your mindfulness of Him and what He did.

Can't 'divide' "the cup" from "the bread" in I Cor. 11:24, the very verse preceeding this one, gang! The "remembrance" is from the same 'institution' and the same 'rite' established by the Lord, and reiterated by Paul. And Paul even ties the thought together with the words, "In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying," (I Cor 11:25a - NKJV). BTW, not trying to hijack the thread (like that might really require a great deal of effort on most threads on the BB ), but two things are to be here noted, It was "after supper", (repeated from the gospel record), and the frequency it is to be observed is also here stated - not "how often", but "as often".

I agree we should not separate the bread from the cup but the bread was symbolic of his body. When you partake of the bread you eating his body (flesh). Now some argue about unleavened bread versus crackers or whatever but I believe the key is breaking bread together in remmbrance of our savior.
