I am seeing reports there was an agent in front of the vehicle. He may have been taking the cell phone video that I saw.

In every video I’ve seen, she pulls forward, stops, apparently to let that person move and starts again. That is when she is shot.

For this to be lawful, he must be lawfully engaged in his duties. Why was he in front of her vehicle? Because she was blocking the road? He cannot enforce local traffic laws.

Very tragic for all involved.

Thanks for the info. I’m not sure it changes anything, as I said before.

I suppose the best thing to do is wait for all the info to get out.

Peace to you

What sense I have made of what is have heard is that the vehicle to the passenger side of her vehicle was stuck in the snow.
Groups had been harassing ICE and following them around according to Noem. The vehicle with the two officers arriving I presume were there for backup. It was not ever presented as a traffic stop. It sounded more like interference with their duties. All that has not been released on video.

I am content to wait for complete reports. I am just sharing info that I have found.
I personally feel sorry for Immigration and Customs Enforcement because I appreciate that they are doing a job that needs to be done in areas where they don’t have local support. It makes for a difficult situation. Pray for them. They are serving their country.

Agreed and pray for the children of the woman killed.

They are in, perhaps, a slightly more difficult situation.

Peace to you

Why was the ICE agent standing in front of her vehicle taking a video with a cell phone? Was that part of his duties?

Did he literally shoot this woman and never put the cell phone down? Is that accurate?

Peace to you

I have seen a report that the woman’s wife was talking to the agent in front of the car that fired the fatal shot. She was taunting him to come after her. He was taking a cell video of her.

When the other officers arrive, she gets into the vehicle and tells her wife to “get out of here”. The agent is still in front. She pulls forward slightly, stops. Another agent approaches he’s from the side and tells her to get out of the vehicle, she pulls forward again and is shot.

Not sure if this helps or hurts either position.

Peace to you

I, too, am waiting for all information to accurately come out. I have opinions, but am keeping them to myself until I feel that the whole and accurate truth comes to light. Both of the far extremes are too much for me to converse with right now.

I just came across this video and legal explanation of the shooting.

Gives detail that I had not seen before

I watched it all. I had not seen the video of the officer being struck. His life was clearly in danger.

The criticism I have of this evaluation is that he uses Minnesota law concerning peace officers (state officials) to evaluate the actions of ICE agents who are federal agents.

I watched a clip from “SouthernDrawlLaw”, that I watch a lot, and he goes into great detail explaining case law concerning lawful seizures and use of force.

He doesn’t say yes or no concerning legality of the force used, but indicates the issue will be decided by whether this officer was lawfully engaged in his duties as a federal officer for this to be justified.

If the agent is not lawfully engaged in his duties, it cannot be justified.

Thanks for the link. If someone could find the video I mentioned and post it, I would appreciate it

I know that here in Canada the RCMP are federal but also do local law enforcement if they are doing an action for the federal government they still have to follow local laws.

As I understand it the ICE agents were doing a legal action of rounding up illegals but we will have to wait for this to play out in court.

I think that the comments coming from both sides are not very helpful and just add to the unrest.

Like several have said, we need to wait until all info is out.

That said, the agent that shot the woman was confronting her wife on the passenger side of the vehicle and taking a cell phone video of her. Hard to imagine taking cell phone video of protestors is part of official duties in rounding up illegal immigrants, but we will let them make that case

Don’t know anything about Canada laws but after what was done to the truckers during Covid, I’m glad I don’t live there :)

Peace to you

Trudeau was a bit of a twit. He broke the law but liberal party protected him so that he would not be held accountable.

Glad he is gone, now we just have to get the liberals out so we can get back to building this country.

Don’t block the roadway.
Don’t disobey lawful commands by a peace officer.
Obey.
Cooperate.

If you follow these rules and many others, you most likely will not get face planted, sprayed, hit with a baton, bitten by an otherwise nice dog, or shot.
If followed, you’ll still have a heartbeat and Your fingers will be useful as you call your attorney.

In other words…

Don’t peacefully protest government actions.

Never question whether law enforcement are engaged in lawful activity or abusing their authority

Obey your government, keep your mouth shut and do as you are told or you will get shot in the face…

How very 1984 of you

Peace to you
