[SIZE=+0]These are not Muslims, Buddhists, Hindu, or people who follow other religions not even Jehovah Witness. These many of those who name the name of Jesus as Lord. According to the Lord many who profess Him and claim to work for Him even with signs and wonders will be sent to hell.

How do you know that you are saved since these all believed that they were saved and find out too late that they are not, and does your belief in your salvation agree with scripture?

What is the difference between one who "thinks" they are saved and those who "know" they are saved? Simple faith.

The Scribes and Pharisees considered they were on the road to Heaven but our Lord compared them to a den of vipers. I don't suspect there will be any "vipers" in Heaven!

How do I know that I am saved? Only because of my Lord's promise to me. That if I accepted Him on his terms He would take care of the rest. God is not the author of confusion. Satan is.

Our Lord Jesus started one church! Why is it that we now have hundreds of different denominations all having branches intermingled with each other? So much confusion. Again, Satan is the author of confusion.

Preach and believe the Gospel and leave all those particular principles, positions, and policies that are being taught for the Scribes and Pharisees to argue over. What can, say..., a paraplegic do with all this works stuff?

I'm not smart enough to understand the mysteries of my Lord. All I've been blessed with is that Promised Hope through Simple Faith. ...that's really all I've got. :godisgood:

If you look carefully at these people, they are banking on getting into heaven and living for an eternity with a God that they actually do believe exists by their own merit. They've done some pretty impressive things, spiritually speaking, and in their own eyes, they did it all by themselves.

They aren't crying out, "LORD, LORD have mercy on me a sinner..". They are crying out, "LORD, LORD, look at me! Look at what I did!"

We are to obey God and to complete the good works that Ephesians 2:10 says that He has for us. We are also to live moral and decent lives of Godliness.

But putting stock into moralism and list of rules/regulations as creating your "good standing" with God will send a person straight to hell.

You raise an excellent point and we should ALL examine ourselves and ask if we are living in obedience to God. And if we can answer "yes" to that, then we should ask why. Is it because we love Him or is it to score points with Him and keep His wrath at bay?

I would think that there are many who fit this description: Mormons, Jehovah Witness, Roman Chatholics and others who look to sacrements to save them, and still others who look to works to save themselves. Also lets look at all the people today who wear crosses and tattoo themselves with Christian crosses and slogans, entertainers that praise god when they win an award. Many of these people do so without a clue who God is.

I must admit this is one of the most troubling passages in the Bible, but it does get us to evaluate our relationship with God, and the genuine believer will come away sure of his salvation if indead it is of God.

I know I am saved by the Word of God. It was God's word that convinced me I was a sinner. It was God' word that told me the wages of sin is death. It was God's word that told me Jesus is the Son of God who came in the flesh, and lived under the law without sin. It was God's word that told me Jesus went to the cross and died for me. It was God's word that told me Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to heaven, who will return again someday. It was God's word that told me if I come to Jesus he would in no wise cast me out. It was God's word that told me whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

When I heard this I was greatly convicted and in fear of my soul. But I was also filled with love for Jesus because he first loved me and gave himself to save me. I got down on my knees and prayed to Jesus. I came to him and called upon him just as he told me to do. I confessed I was a sinner and justly condemned for my sins against him, and asked him to forgive me and to come into my heart. And this is when I was saved.

And now I know I am saved, because Jesus cannot lie. I am depending on him only and his promises to save me. I am depending on his word. And Jesus is The Word of God (Rev 19:13, John 1:1, 14), he is called Faithful and True (Rev 19:11). The very universe is held together by his word, the very world itself would fly apart before he will break his word to me or anyone else who comes to him.

That is how I know I am saved, because I am depending (believeing) on Jesus alone to save me, not any goodness in me or any works I might perform.

Notice they claimed access to God's heaven because of the works they had accomplished. When He turns unbelievers away, none will say, "did we not believe in you as the Messiah & Sacrifice for our sins? Have mercy, my God & my Saviour!" The difference is in the heart of the person standing before God. The question should be "on what basis will God reject them?" On the basis of their unbelief & belief in self.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast."

A believer would NEVER throw his works in Jesus' face as proof of why they deserve His heaven. We will cast our crowns at His feet & consider all of our righteousness as vile sin before our God.

I know many people who say they are going to heaven because they are "good enough", "not a murder", "go to church on Sunday" and do all sorts of good deeds. The question is this: have they had a complete and utter nature change? If not, they will not go to heaven because they are not a "new creation". However, those who HAVE had a complete nature change WILL go to heaven because they are indwelt with the Holy Spirit.

I submit that the "key" is genuineness. I know many people who practice the sacraments of Catholicism, Episcopalianism etc. I know too, what a precious and genuine heart for God they have, recognizing that it is God who has provided salvation, salvation that they (I) do not deserve. Salvation from the sacrifice of His Son. The redeemed of the Lord will arrive from a multitude of denominations, not just the baptist.

The scripture claims for itself to be God's Word.
The scripture claims that Jesus died for sinners.
I am a sinner.
The scripture says by faith one is saved.
The Holy Spirit created faith in me.

My plea before God at the Judgment will be "I come on the merits of Jesus.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.
I have no other argument. I have no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died, and that he died for me.

I realized I was a hell-bound lost sinner that could do nothing to save myself. I cried out to God to forgive me, believing that Jesus was the Savior and had risen from the dead and that his shed blood cleansed me from my sin. I believe this lines up with scripture:


1 Cor 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
