They gotta rip out the bowling alley and put in a basketball court. Apparently the Obama's will not have to sacrifice like the rest of us.

How many presidents didn't have something added to the WH? Ford and the golf course, Clinton and the running track etc...

Richard Nixon wasn't telling us to learn to live with less. Sacrifice was not Nixon's mantra. It's pretty clear Obama doesn't walk the walk.

The amount of money spent on this inauguration is appalling but the loonies who support Obama think it's money well spent. The more I hear people lift up Obama the more I realize how naive so many Americans are...they do not even blink when Obama pushes this extravagant indulgence in their face. Amazing... We are so ripe for the Anti-Christ…

The double standards make me sick!

Every penny spent to keep the event secure is worth it, and the constant charge that anyone who doesn't despise everything having anything to do with the new president somehow supports him is getting old.

The new president is already old. Queen Michelle is wearing gold for the event. Only thing missing is the tiara. Maybe that will come later....

Just a bit petty, aren't we?

I have a feeling that no matter what happens today it is going to be wrong in some eyes.

But the boos for President Bush were just plain tacky :(

We have hit a point of no return in this country.

There will never be civility again in the US political arena. Ever.

I've been quite disturbed at how inflamed this has all gotten...and yes, my smart-aleck comments have at times contributed.

The hatred of Bush by those who supported Obama is palpable. I would venture that a significant number of those in attendance today would call Bush "racist." I know it is taught as a fact in many public schools in this area.

Likewise, the hatred of Obama is also palpable. I find it sad that many (some of my own family included) refuse to pray for Obama. This violates Scripture, and is a sin. And some of the comments made of this man border on vile.

I'm going to give this guy significant grief when he enacts wrong-headed policies. But I'm going to do my best to afford him the respect the office deserves.

But the day of respect for the US president by the masses is over. A dozen 9/11's wouldn't bring it back now.

Roger I don't think anyone has a problem with paying for top security. It's the wasteful indulgence that the Obama's represent. Everything is over the top! How soon we forget the Greek columns. The hypocrisy is revolting.

Excellent point. I could not agree any more.

What indulgence are you talking about. How does the cost compare with others in inflation adjusted dollars? How much of the extra is required by security?

Why not let the people of this day enjoy an historical event, then get down to holding the new president to his assurances and promises?

Michelle was holding a book. If it was the Lincoln Bible, she would have white gloves on (protocol for old historical documents). I am trying to find a video to see. The cover looked thick for a Bible. If it can be proved it wasn't the Koran, I will be the first to admit I was wrong. Until prove can be forthcoming, I will not admit I was wrong.

Yes, he said "so help me God" but it was after Chief Justice asked, "So help you God?" It was prompted and chalk one up for the Chief Justice. (It is not a mandatory part of the Oath of Office.) A nice little touch, since Obama voted against his confirmation. :tongue3:

What a monumentally ignorant statement.
