and saying that guys don't "have it as bad as girls" is just a stupid statement... most guys are just AS BAD as girls are when it comes to flirting. A lot of the time they can be worse -- said by unashamedyouth

Well, i know that guys totally flirt. I know that they can be just as bad. Believe me! I know this one kid who was absolutely ridiculous. He would go around and just put his arm around you and think nothing of it. He would go up to you and say "WOW, your looking HOT today." The only thing i am saying is that girls tend to handle it a little better than guys do. I don't want to start comparing. I'm just saying that we need to learn to not flirt and just help them overcome a sin that has been hurting them for a long time now. Who cares if they do it too. They can work it out themselves. What, are we just going to sit here and make excuses like "Well they do it too"... I don't think so. Make the first move and STOP. God will take care of the rest. All you have to do is realize how bad it can mess up someone, like a guy. It can mess up a girl too, but who's going to be the first to stop. OK... I think I have made my point.

By the way, thank Michael for the compliment. I think everyone knows that we know eachother now.

Oh and girls... when someone says to you that you are a gem in Gods hands and a virtuos woman... you will feel great. Isn't that what you want to be. And guys, help us girls out too! And maybe someone will tell you how great of an influence you are and also a great christian in God's and other's sight.

) However, does it have a place in christian dating or courting? Where do you draw the line when it comes to flirting? Do you realize the permenant damage that you could afflict in another person's life through seemingly "innocent" flirting? Is there such a thing as "innocent flirting"?
Any comments?

Ok, let's define it.

What is flirting? Is it...
-flattery?
-winking?
-touching?
-getting one's face to close to another one's face?

It's probably some or all of these things.

Sometimes it's a just a matter of perception. An unattached young woman might be sensitive to flirting in a different way than a young man. Sometimes it's a problem because the "flirtee" isn't sure how he/she's supposed to respond.

Sometimes it's uncomfortable because it's a temptation.

Sometimes it's uncomfortable because it feels like cheating.

I think each person has a personal space that he/she wants respected. If one person gets too close, the alarm bells go off.

As individuals, we can do a self-check and ask ourselves, "What do we really want here?" If we can see that another person is getting nervous, maybe they're misreading OUR motives.

If one is on the receiving end, perhaps utter disgust and contempt is a bit extreme initially. Maybe a simple, "What do you really want?" might startle the "flirter" into looking at his/her own behavior.

That is very true! Where did you find that saying just-want-peace. I think I have heard it somewhere before. Or maybe not... I'm not sure. It could have been something that was like it. But anyways...ya!?

Eventually in any hetero relationship that has any chance of going anywhere either one partner or the other is going to have to express some type of stimulus to the other that they are in fact ready to take the relationship to new levels. Geez, to listen to some of these posts it would seem that neither person in a Christian relationship ever even entertains any of these thoughts until their wedding night. I have had countless women flirt with me over the years. It was their way of letting me know that they were available or at least moderately interested in going out for some fun. In only a few of these did the relationship progress to a more serious tone and that was after quite a few dates. I have also flirted with women and those who responded in kind I usually asked out. Those who didn't I ignored. My flirting was moslty in the form of light hearted joking. I think a lot of people just need to take a chill pill. Just because a person expresses some interest in you deosn't necessarily mean that they want to get laid. In some cases yes, but I would dare say that the majority of people who flirt usually are just seeking a casual encounter on a modest scale.

Your language and tone is inappropriate and your standards are a far cry from striving to be like Christ. Liking a person and flirting do not have to go hand and hand. Go back to the Word and remember who we are supposed to be fellowshipping with minute by minute. We are to be filled with the spirit. Regardless of what humanism teaches we do not need to flirt to let someone know we care about them. Take it from someone who grew up in the world and now only wants to know God's Way. You need to keep it light and keep it clean!!

If your saying flirting in general does not have to go hand and hand with liking someone thats partially true..but then again theres nothing wrong with it in my opinion if it does happen. flirting is natural. Just like having crushes are natural.

Unless it isnt trying to tempt the other into doing/saying something sinful, or not an adult flirting with a child, or vice versa(i think that type of flirting is stupid really. People should flirt with those their own age), or if its in a innapropriate place, I find it harmless really. And flattering
(dunno if the above sounds confusing..when i read it over in my head it kinda does but i dunno how to make it sound any better
)


But I do agree, some things you said(like the laid thing), XW, were innapropriate. I know sometimes we can get mad and aggervated from what other posters say, but you didn't really need to add that did you?
