I must have missed that part of the Bible.Have you ever seen that one bumper sticker that homos put on their cars that have the colors of a rainbow and say, "Celebrate Diversity"? Well, I've got some that look EXACTLY like it - rainbow colors and all - except the words say, "Eliminate Perversity." Since the stickers look so much alike, the homos wind up driving around with them on their bumpers for months before they finally notice the difference. What a hoot! Boy it's fun to be a Christian!
I don't think screaming matches are fun.</font>[/QUOTE]Proverbs 24:24,25 - "He who says to the wicked, You are righteous; the people shall curse him and nations shall abhor him. But to those who rebuke him, it shall be a delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.Originally posted by AITB:

Needless to say I spent most every Saturday engaged in nose to nose screaming matches. Man, that was fun.
It's interesting to me that you mention MikeSnedding because I have been thinking that MikeSnedding and Jefferson seem quite alike in how they use Bible verses/passages. Maybe they are quite close in their beliefs about God, the Bible, etc.Originally posted by Smoke_Eater:
Between this and MikeSnedding and Ernie's bookburning parties, I don't know which is the more bizzare evangelism technique.

Nope, I see nothing about screaming. It's evidently not in the Hebrew.rebuke

How do you reconcile the verses you quoted with the commands to judge and rebuke? Do you think there are contradictions in the Bible?Originally posted by Don:
(you'll notice that he didn't even acknowledge the verses I provided....)
Please quote me the verse that says the only way we can rebuke proud, arrogant, unrepentant murderers is by gently cooing to them like school-girls.Originally posted by AITB:

You mean a way that is designed so that at the end of the day they will "like" us?Originally posted by AITB:

Our goal is always to bring glory to God.Originally posted by Jefferson:

And therefore, the ends do justify the means anytime...right? Wow, Jefferson, with all your self-righteous talk, you probably never thought of yourself as a pragmatist, did you? You know, somebody who can ignore the clear teachings of Christ to love your enemies and to speak the truth in love if it satisfies your goals. This whole thread kinda reminds me of the two camps of the civil rights movement back in the 60's (Martin Luther King and Malcolm X). Hey Jefferson, if you were a Civil Rights leader, guess which one you would be.Originally posted by Jefferson:
Years from now, when abortion has been outlawed, I believe the history books will give the credit to the fanatics rather than to the "respectable" pontificators.
As was pointed out, to rebuke someone doesn't mean to scream in their face and call them a hell-bound God-hater. It means to tell them they've done, or are doing, something wrong. In order to be able to rebuke a man, and restore such a one (Galatians 6:1), we must judge not according to the outward appearance, but judge righteous judgement (John 7:24).How do you reconcile the verses you quoted with the commands to judge and rebuke? Do you think there are contradictions in the Bible?
Agreed.Hasnt everyone heard the stories about the women dying getting coat hanger abortions? The numbers may be exaggerated but women did die getting illegal abortions. The pro abortion side uses these cases to tug at the emotions of women, particularly impressionable young women, to convince us that making abortion legal and "safe" is kinder than the alternatives.
Paul didn't have your attitude: "1Cor. 4:10, "We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honorable, but we are despised."Originally posted by Helen:
No, Jefferson, a way to prevent at least some abortions without making a laughing stock of us.
And also through conviction of sin via the law according to Psalm 19:7, "The Law of Jehovah is perfect, converting the soul."If you read Romans 2, you will find that people are led to repentance through the KINDNESS of God.
