My thoughts as well.OldRegular said:How can any Christian; left, right, or just Christian; support an atheist ideology? That is like a Christian supporting the murder of the unborn!

China. North Korea, and Cuba are good examples of communism TODAY. Just respond to that.Revmitchell said:What is intentionally being overlooked is that communism has changed. Looking to the past to present proof some are not marxist is in error. But having presented on multiple occasions the principles of the current neo-communists directly from their own website no one has shown where Barack Hussein ( It is ok to use that now) Obama does not support their basic principles. I and one or two others have shwn effectively that he supports most if not all the basic principles and ideas of the current communist party. The result is an understanding that Barack Hussein (It is ok to use that now) Obama is a Marxist. Do you support the same principles? Are you then a Marxist?

The charge has been that Obama - and a lot of others - are pushing for even more socialism than we already have. What seems alarming to me is that socialism seems to have some support right here on this discussion board. Far too many people see government as the answer to all problems and are ready to have them seize control of private enterprise - whether by loans, bailouts, or regulation - thinking it will save us. It seems to me the very source of economic problems is the already bloated government and its various attempts at social re-engineering followed now with general panic among the population who believes the government has to step in and solve the problem. They are playing us to slay their own dragon and ultimately at the cost of our liberty. There are, in fact, some common characteristics with communism in nationalizing financial institutions and setting up social welfare programs like social security. It's all about making the citizens wards of the state and dependent upon it for everything they have and do. We're headed in the wrong direction!JustChristian said:I posted this poll to show everyone here how ridiculous it was to call anyone who voted for Obama a communist. Now do you see the error of your ways? Using some socialist tactics like nationalizing AIG in the current financial crisis or setting up Social Security is not remotely like communism in practice.
It does seem ridiculous to have to post this kind of a poll on a Christian web site. It was also ridiculous to make the statements that led to doing it.

And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all [men], as every man had need.
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Were these people communists or atheists because they shared everything they had?

Jim1999 said:I am a democratic socialist and believe it is biblical to be so. It is simply democracy with social responsibility. It does not make all companies state owned. It does offer some controls that save those private companies.
For example, Canada was saved from some of the severity of this recent downfall in economics because our main banks have regulations placed upon them regarding reserves.....this came out of the great fall of 1929 and the following depression when people lost everything. Now the banks are required, by government regulation, to have reserves i store for each account up to a given sum. If you think this is a bad thing, then best stay where you are where your banks can go broke and you can lose everything. Remember the days when Americans lined up outside a closed bank trying to get their $100.00 out of their account. Some of us are old enough to remember.
There are many other benefits,,,,,,along with the shortfalls.
Cheers,
Jim
