What is the issue there? To me, she is too weak on crime and Islam and Brexit, but they say she is pro-American.

The third runway -
involves a massive increase in commuter traffic in an already grossly overloaded area;
noise pollution area extended greatly - sound-proofing doesn't work in the summer when you're in the garden & the house windows are open;
demolition of hundreds of houses in the commuter area, including whole villages & expensive homes;
massive increase in the Heathrow workforce, & associated services in an area where houses are already in very short supply, especially low cost homes that the employees could buy;
more expensive & more disruptive than the alternative Gatwick in the Sussex countryside, which is only one hour's drive from Heathrow (without traffic).

Too weak -
obsessed with tax cuts for the rich, so cutting the police forces massively;
There are many areas where Muslims are dominant, including Southall, where I moved from. They have benefited from tax concessions for their mosque building. I think the main problems in the UK (as everywhere) relate to Islamic control of the Muslim community, particularly women's rights. There is some protective legislation. IMO most Muslims are nominal & are law abiding & just want to get on with life. At present it's not a cause for concern for the government. Immigration is a different issue;
She hasn't a clue about Brexit, even her cabinet is in chaos with infighting. IMO if she had any common sense & realism, she would scrap the whole project;
As for America she desperately wants friends & trade after Brexit has wrecked the UK economy & the conservatives are thrown out of office. But I don't think Trump is enthusiastic....

That airport plan does sound very bad.

Indianapolis had an international airport with hotels built all around it and once an airplane crashed into a motel. A few years ago they built a new airport in a more rural area but still on Interstate Highway 70, which runs from Baltimore to Utah.

The new airport has no motels nearby and so vans take you to the parking lots and hotels or you rent a car at the airport. The building is somewhat stark with a handful of eating places and a couple of shops. Passengers checked through security have access to another handful of restautants. I live about 5 miles from it but not on a flight path.

Islam does not assimilate anywhere. If you have time, visit YouTube and search out Acts 17 Apologetics with David Wood for a Christian look at Islamic teachings.

We bought a house positioned midway between the existing runways, including a cross runway now disused. But in the summer, with an east wind, they take off & turn overhead. We've moved now, & occasionally see a light aircraft or helicopter.

I'm familiar with Islamic teachings - people like Wood study the Koran & know far more about Islam than most Muslims. I distinguish between the religion & the people. They're not out to get us the way the western governments have been attacking Muslim countries - resulting in Muslim refugees.

A lot of this can be blamed on Hillary Clinton because she wanted a foreign policy triumph and decided to attack Libya, destabilizing the country with no suitable successor to rule. She caused the death of four Americans, as you know.

Also, the Germans insisted that they needed more cheap labor and that everyone in Europe had to take a quota imposed by Germany. I blame May for following Merkel's lead. Islam does not want to assimilate--they want to dominate. Here in the suburbs of Indianapolis we have the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) international headquarters. They are a Muslim Brotherhood terrorist front and an umbrella organization for all terrorist activity in the USA but the federal government even with Trump declines to label them a terrorist organization. Islam and Hinduism both, as you know, look down on people who work for a living. I have known some nice Pakistanis--people who lived and worked in Dubai and then came here--but when the chips are down they might resort to sharia. They are brutal to their own women. The Nation of Islam cult is also very bad. Imagine forcing women to wear Arab garb designed to protect from the sun in the Arab desert but now being worn in the Midwest where the humidity is 90% half the time. And David Wood has a video in Acts 17 Apologetics about how the Ramadan fast is leading to obesity and diabetes in Muslims as well as disorientation and violence because not even a drop of water or a medical prescription can be consumed in the daytime.

Is one man's bizarre opinion worth a whole new thread?

The UK equivalent of Trump is Boris Johnson.

To update Lewis Carroll -

Twas Brexit & the slithy Gove
did gyre & gimble with the May;
all mimsy was the Boris Jo
and the Rees Mogg outgrabe.

Boris - our Foreign Secretary - is the one who intervened negatively in the case of Nazanin Ratclife - she was visiting her parents in Iran with her baby, when she was arrested.
Boris made the ignorant assertion that she was in Iran training journalists.

Rees Mogg should be our PM. His Dad was my boss as Editor, when I began to work for The Times as a messenger.

My nephew works for Jacob now and has a high opinion of him. He is a Catholic though. May is a Liberal Christian who introduced gay marriage. Corbyn is an atheist as are most of his crowd.

Jacob Rees-Mogg moves his Somerset Capital Fund Management Company, including its £60million of Russian Bank Shares to Dublin while telling the rest of us we will be better off with no EU deal and risk of tens of thousands of jobs being lost.

So?
It it his money he can do what he wishes with it. Wouldn't you?

He is a toff and I recognise that,

It matters because it's hypocritical: with one breath he's preaching the economic virtues of Brexit and with the next he's moving his funds out of the UK as a precaution

Acting on ministerial, insider information, is surely illegal as well as immoral, because he is elected to represent the people's interest, not his own private financial interests.

So might I. But I at least voted Remain: if you endorse Leave then you should keep your money where your vote is
