August 1st, Chick-fil-A Day

The Chick Fil-A company refuses to open on Sundays so that their employees can go to church if they wish. Despite the pressure from malls, airports, and the business world to open on Sundays, they still don't. They treat customers and employees with respect and dignity.

An effort has begun to speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day.”

No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1.

Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.

This effort is not being launched by the Chick Fil-A company and no one from the company or family is involved in proposing or promoting it.

So, make an effort folks. Everyone is invited to patronize Chick-fil-A on 1 August 2012 to show your support.

This effort to support CFA isn't because they close on Sundays. It's because their CEO was asked a personal question in an interview and he gave an answer that the world didn't want to hear and he has been attacked, unjustly, for it.

And the people who are going aren't going to support a business that closes on Sundays - countless thousands of secular businesses are closed on Sundays - the people who are going to CFA on August 1 are going to to say, "We support the biblical marriage concept, too.!"

And that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. Lots of my friends are going.

I'm not going myself. Something is just not setting right with me about equating the eating of lunch at a certain restaurant with opposing homosexual marriages. I'm just not getting the connection.

Plus - have you considered this? There is a homosexual movement growing just as fast as the 8/1/12 movement in that there are "kiss-ins" planned for that day. Homosexuals are planning on eating lunch there, too, and kissing each other to upset the proverbial applecart.

I just don't think that Cathey family is interested in this kind of negative attention.

think the BIG problem that the "world' has with the founder of the company is his stance on being against gay marriage!

isn't it interesting that the "I am a Christian" president has jioned the chorus to "Drum him out of Business?"

Thank God the owner has the guts to obey and honor God, and not bow down to man!

Concern about Christians' attitude in the CFA

(Since I cannot edit the title let me say that I meant to post, "Concern about the Christian's attitude in the CFA/marriage issue".)

I love chic-fil-a and their food. I love homosexuals as well. I am for the exclusivity of marriage between a woman and a man. I'm concerned that Christians will make too much of a big deal about this chic-fil-a issue. We need to be careful that we do not offend in our demonstration of solidarity with chic-fil-a.

I live too far away from the closest Chic-fil-A to participate on August 1. Therefore, I've asked a family friend to buy some sandwiches and give them to someone in need. Our friend will be reimbursed.

Why do so many Christians back down when they have an opportunity to lend their support, in a peaceful manner, to other Christians? Why do so few Christians truly practice what they preach?

I haven't backed down from anything.

I am for the Biblical marriage. I've said so - live and in person - to nonbelievers and I've taught that fact to young people. I just don't see why I have to eat a chicken sandwich on Wednesday to prove it. And I don't see why my pocket change in paying for one will futher the support of Biblical marriage. And I do not get the connection in my eating a chicken sandwich on Wednesday with convincing non-believers that gay marriage is abhorent.

CFA, as a corporation, does not promote the Biblical marriage. They hire married gay couples and hire/serve gay people/couples.

The Cathey family is of the opinion that gay marriage is not Biblical.

My buying a sandwich on Wednesday will do absolutely nothing except to bolster their profit for the day. It will not make a difference in the fight against gay marriage. And I have no idea why my not participating in Wednesday's "Buy a chicken sandwich/save the world from homosexuality" makes me not lending my support and "backing down" from the world.

The pro-gay marriage wing has hatefully overreacted to Dan Cathey's statement. And I just feel that the church is overreacting - in their thinking that the purchase of chicken on Wednesday will accomplish anything in combating the gay marriage agenda.

If Christians wish to do this - I think that's fine. But those of us who won't be doing it shouldn't be scolded.

I don't think I will vote in this coming election because Obama is a disaster..., and Romney is a Mormon.

They are both running to bolster their power on the world scene.

Anyway, I'm kinda with you on the voting thing. I STILL don't know for certain if I am going to push the button for Romney or a third party.

I see deep uncertainties ahead no matter who goes in. I am very depressed about it.

So true. However their are so few firms today that support Christian views, it is nice to see some that do. Many don't because of the back lash.
I started trying to do business with Christian places when I could, years ago even if the price was a little higher.
To push for all Christians to do something or this or you aren't a true Christian would be legalism and I'm not for that.
What I give the left credit for is how well they push for and stick together on so many thing. They all ready have some kiss in at the Chic-fil-A planed, down here.

Shouldn't the best way to show we really do love gay persons would be to be vocally anti gay marriage and lifestyle, as those things we know will end up harming all involved in long run?
