I guess you did hit a nerve, sorry. You would think a Sub. Teacher's nerves would be much deeper wouldn't ya? &gt;grin&gt;

I guess it would be pointless for me to say I believe our Supreme Court has destroyed the constitution...wouldn't it?

Anyway, when the questions first arose, being only a subs. in a regular teacher's classroom (who btw is a state legislator, don't know if I mentioned that prior or not), I wondered what I would do. At first I quickly dismissed them as an attempt to draw me off topic.

Then the questions continued and although not all were perhaps in sincerity, who am I to judge the heart of another?

Anyway, I made a conscious choice as a regenerated child of God to trust in Him alone and to answer straightforward questions with as brief and straightforward answers. I always prefaced any answer with this is what I believe scripture to teach.

(This is different than my teaching or preaching method in dealing with those who come to hear; where scripture speaks absolute I make the attempt to show that, where it does not I do not).

In this case, I made it very obvious that if anyone was offended the discussion would end and that by no means did I ever tell anyone anything that they must believe as truth in order to be 'saved'.

I always in every and all cases leave the setting apart unto salvation and belief of the truth to the Spirit. That is the Biblical position and the only 'safe' course we are permitted to follow.

Is 2+2=4 only true for Christians? Is the earth average distance to the sun 93-million miles not true for Jews? Facts are facts. Religion has no bearing on it.

As for an appropriate age for a child to view horrors of the holocaust or any other horrific images varies from child to child. I would not take a child to an R-Rated movie either. Apparently YOUR writings reveal your mind that there is no inappropriate viewing material for minor children.

Man only discovers what God already knows. It is presumptous to say that these are man's laws. Teaching in a Christian school, we teach things from God's point of view, not from a humanist point of view which makes a big difference.

The biggest difference comes out both in the sciences like biology (creation) and in social studies. (Millions of years ago man...)

The earth is about 93 million miles from the sun because that is the way that God created in the first six days of creation, when he created all things. We have a wonderful God who created the universe, the earth, and all that is therein for the benefit of mankind who he also created out of his incomprehensible love. He demonstrated that love by dying for the penalty of his sin, that he might have forgiveness of sin, and one day be with Him in Heaven.

I doubt if secular humanistic schools take that approach to education. Education in Christian schools, not matter what the subject, is Bible based, and Christ centered. Or at least it ought to be.

I am not trying to condemn the person that teaches in the public school system. Some people may be called to do so. I condemn the system itself; its curiculuum, and generally what I have observed and read what happens in the public school systems. You can't overturn the entire system, but you can make a difference wherever you are, and that holds the same for each one of us, no matter what the secular work we have. We are the light of this world, the salt of the earth.

Christa McAuliffe was a public school teacher, and a very good one by the world's standards. My point was, that whether she is in heaven or hell (I have no way of knowing) she knows now the One Thing she should not have neglected teaching those children.

I want everyone to pay close attention to what Poles said above. God said that the fear of the Lord is not only the beginning of knowledge, but it is also the beginning of wisdom. Poles says it isn't.

But not even the public school system believes it's primary purpose is to teach the bare bones of facts. Those who know the public education system, what is the philosophy of public education? What are the mission statements of the schools in your area?

On their sign by the road, one local high school said, "What good does it do Johnny to learn to read if Johnny has low self-esteem?"

I prefer Christ's version, "What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

Then explain why some of the strongest Christians come out of parachurch organizations situated on the campuses of secular universitities, military bases and areas of the world where Christians are persecuted. It is adversity that makes a person strong not just intellectual education. Some of the weakest Christians I met were in the churches I pastored where the people were surrounded by Christians all time.
