Baptist Board Blues

Mr. Curtis, and EagleLives911,
Don't go! Your posts have blessed me no longer than I've been a member of this board (ie. a couple weeks, tops!). Keep making your Biblical stands!
As for those who may be athiests who continue to post here, let's not assume they've been turned over to a "reprobate mind." Though the evidence screams at us, THAT knowledge is just not ours! THIS BOARD MAY BE THE ONLY BIBLE THEY EVER TRULY READ!
When those "Baptist Board blues" come a'callin', just smile and nod, while reciting over, and over, and over . . . .
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13)

In Christ,
Mike

Thanks, Everybody! You have encouraged my heart by your comments...so I'm feeling better.

PS: Chicago is one of my favorite groups, too. ;)

Saturday, in the park, I think it was the 4th of July...

Like Curtis, could I be hooked on this Board?

Mr. Curtis:

You're Arminian, I'm electionist but not a 5-pointer Calvinist, my 5th point is Preservation and not Perseverance.
But before I bowed down to the doctrine of Grace in God's election I did pray the 'prayer of acceptance' after being shown the "Roman road".
When we get to heaven, and get to be introduced by angels to one another, we'll probably look back at these discussions, scratch our heads, and say " what was that all about ? ", if we can take our eyes off Jesus.

I think almost everyone has thought about leaving before, but came back. I have a bunch of times, but i don't post alot here so it isn't noticed much. I can tell you one thing, it seems everytime i reply to a post the post dies for some reason...dunno why...

Mr Curtis,

I think that many times doing what is right and Biblical is not the thing that makes you "feel good". In fact, I think that "feel good-ism" is a serious plague in the chruch today.

Not that we shouldn't have peace and joy, but I think some of the greatest wisdom packed into the fewest simple words outside of the scriptures was in the words of a dear old lady in our congregation: "It's hard to be a Christian".

Food for thought, I think.

I am now forced by time constraints to go days WITHOUT being on the BaptistBoard. Now that makes a person blue.

I would love to be abused regularly, my posts railed on or ignored. I envy your position. Next time I feel down, I will remember your plight and realize that there are others out there who are having a difficult time, too!

God bless you, brother. Let's all hang together, or most assuredly we will all hang separately.

Good to see you, Dr. Bob. It's always a pleasure to read from you....

Your lack of presence has been felt, by me anyways.

1. i like this board, i learn many, and some of my veiws have changed for the better.

2. i do not resort to answering every allegation or challenges on my posts. personally, i do not like my name posted on every other challenges on what i've said. but then i appreciate those who confront my posts, though i am usually not tempted to answer them even if i can!

3. My thanks to those who developed this site which allowed me to express my thoughts, including this one.

oh, before i forget,

4. i do not know what the popular impression there in the USA this band has, but i like Bon Jovi.

Would it not be interesting if some of the Calvinists amongst us did not show up as one of the elect? Christ died for all men and told us to preach to all men so someone needs to shove that silly thinking in a pigeonhole marked Man's Folly and preach the Word not Calvin.

I have known many, many Calvinists in my time, and I have yet to meet one who was not certain he was one of the elect. It seems that the non-elect are never Calvinists! :D

Ok Y’all, I wasn’t going to bring this up BUT the song goes “If you leave me now
You’ll take away the biggest part of me Oo, oo, oo, no, baby, please don’t go”.

I guess it’s the IFBKJO coming out in me

And another thing, I have never met a Calvinist that I didn’t like. I may not see things the same but I do sympathize with and appreciate the deep sense of humility that the doctrine of Election teaches. I do not understand the sum total of that teaching but what I do understand humbles me…..I cannot summarily dismiss something I do not understand.
