Baptist Board is broken

This isn't about the manufactured drama or even about the twisted doctrine that gathers so many views.
It's about the slowness in connecting to the forum.

My internet signal is strong.
My computer is virus-free.
All other sites I visit connect rapidly.

But the Baptist Board is frequently slow and sometimes even unresponsive.

Been that way for me for about three days.

Lest this be the beginning of the end of the BB - PLEASE, PLEASE pray before you post.

There are waves of frustrating sluggishness.
Today everything seems to be working spiffy.

There are many technical reasons the board can be slow. It could be at the server, the DNS routing, or something on the users end. If the problem is at the server, the administrators of the Forum should get with the provider and see if they need to update the server software, purge some of the old unused files such as site images that are way out of date (backup files that are redundant.) Or anything on the server end that is not within the users ability to effect.

If it is a DNS problem, you may try to use a different DNS server. Such as Google DNS or Open DNS (I think that is what it is called.) A DNS server ranks websites and allocates resources to access those websites. The more popular the website, the more resources are allocated to the website. If there is ten million "calls" for a website a day, the DNS server connects to the website much faster than if there are only two hundred calls a day. There is just more resources allocated to the more popular websites. About the only thing you can do about that is to drive more traffic to the site so the DNS servers rank the website higher.

But, if the website is slow for a few days and then becomes normal again, the server provider probably has just done some maintenance on the site. All that stuff is done behind the scenes.

I was thinking a possible DOS attack. Had that happen to a couple of other Christian web sites I am on. Got so bad on one site they had to shutdown and start again under a new domain.

Doesn’t make any sense! Who is paying the bills then?

the board is funded by the ads shown on the board which is a result of the activity of the board. The farther the activity drops the less value the board has the less income is compiled. There has to be a driver of activity to maintain the value and income of the board. For reasons unknown the owner/s have taken a hands off approach lately and refuse to even respond to admins. This is why I posted the earlier post about the board. Having owned one myself in the past I know what keeps and drives a board. Right now it appears that no one is minding the shop. Eventually, if that is true, the board will fall to the wayside.
