I was a member of a SBC church in Germany - where a small faction ended up with the building.

Why not vote by household? If the husband is the head of the wife and a qualification of elders is that they manage their own households well "keeping their children under submission", then clearly there is not even footing for everyone. Should a baptized 18 year old cancel his/her father's vote out? I haven't seen a church adopt a paternalistic covenant but there are many in the Bible that could be used to justify it.

I did attend one church where only the men could vote. In fact, since I was not a member - I was not even allowed to attend the business meeting
