First I will address the last untruth. Not "every Tom, Dick and Harry, and Sally" can legally own a firearm in the US. In order to legally purchase or posses of firearm in the US you must be 21 years of age (18 for a long gun), pass an FBI background check, have no record of felony convictions, or a history of lesser convictions involving domestic or other forms of violence, and not be an abuser of alcohol or drugs. In order to carry said firearm (in most states) the person must pass another FBI background check, a local records check, and be fingerprinted, plus take an approved gun safety class including knowledge of the laws concerning carrying and use of firearms.

And you are correct regarding your first statement. The US is unique in that we are a nation of free thinking, rugged individualists who will defend our way of life against any and all who would try to dominate us.

In the late 18th century, when your pathetic King George III tried to disarm us, we resisted. When he sent the equally pathetic British Army to enforce his dictatorial edicts, we kicked the Redcoats not only out of our country, but clear across the Atlantic.

We did it again in 1812-1814 when the slow learning Brits tried it again, and got chased home with their tails between their legs (again).

By the way, only 374 people were killed by rifles (all types, not just AR-15s) in 2016.

But 750,000 babies in the US die by abortion every year.
