I was surprised...

1. This guy is Baptist
2. He is a 2004 graduate of Bob Jones University
3. Not at all clean cut (photo at the bottom of the page)
4. The Baptist News allowed it
5. He said such terrible things about John MacArthur

Though I did not agree with everything John MacArthur had to say... I do admire him for staying true to his beliefs to the very end. And most of all... For staying decent.

He completed a master of arts degree in worship

That pretty much sums it up.

Right:

Matthew 12:33-37 [NKJV]
"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by [its] fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

John 13:34-35 [NKJV]
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

’nuff said.

Back before the internet, all I had was radio pastors. John Macarthur was a blessing to me for sure. At that time, back then, I went to a church that didn't really teach the Bible. They just preached the Gospel and had members bring in unsaved people to hear it every week. That way, the pastor doesn't need to know the Bible. It's the formula that many modern day churches rely on.

I owned JMac's study Bible. I also owned about five books from his commentary. Random books that were published, like the Charismatic Chaos, The Gospel according to Jesus, etc.. He and a few others were a great blessing to me for my whole life and will continue to be so.

Many people hated John MacArthur. Charismatics and Pentecostals to name a few. Near the end, he began calling out false teachers by name. That did not make him more popular. :) Kenneth Copeland was so ANGRY !!!! LOL

I was going to start a thread on him passing, but this will do, I suppose.

Benny Hinn got so worked out being called out as a heretic by him, that he wanted God to give to him a spiritual machine gun, so then he could shoot MacArthur with it

None of this is relevant, IMO. It doesn't matter if the writer is a Baptist (JM was not), or where he went to college and seminary, or whether or not he is clean cut, or what publication allowed it. What matters is whether he spoke the truth or not. So, I suggest you go to the critic's website and critique his arguments and tell us if he was wrong or right.

Personally, I object to JM's 5 point Calvinism, his Lordship Salvation, his conferences to promote Calvinism (why not missions?), his ecclesiology, etc. On the other hand, I appreciated his stand against the Charismatics, and occasionally listened to a good sermon (and some bad ones) by him.

Well, at least JM never had a beard, unlike this Pidcock guy. That alone makes JM right and Pidcock wrong, doesn't it? :Rolleyes

P. S. For full disclosure, I disagree vehemently with some things Pidcock wrote...but not all.

That’s not a real beard, that’s one of those “sissy beards”. ;)
