Baptist TV Evangalists

Bring unable to sleep early this morning I got up and watched some of the Christian Evangalists that are on early morning TV.

In Australia Cable TV is not yet all that popular and the Television is genrally dominated by four major networks, one of them devotes some of its early morning programming to TV Evangalists, for a price of course. Benny Hinn gets the best spot, Kenneth Copeland and Joyce Meyer is there as well. On the weekend another network gives Creflo Dollar a run, Robert Schiller is there of course and the Philadelphia Church of God have a show called "Key of David".

Which led me to thinking if there are actually any Baptist TV evangalists? Franklin Graham comes to mind but I am not sure that he has a regular show similar to Benny Hinn and others.

So can anyone give me any details of any good Baptist TV Evangalists that I can look out for?

Adrian rogers seems to be quite a popular chap, he is on many station both radio and T.V in the U.S, Also he is on 2 radio stations in Australia, not in my state though, but I have passed on his details to our local radio station.

On our Cable .They carry mostly the guys you mentioned Copeland ,Hinn etc..But on Sunday Morning early they use to carry all Baptist Preachers .In the lower corner of the TV screen it said something like Baptist network .So I thought that the Baptist network bought some air time on Sundays and showed their programs .It was from like 4 am to 9 am .This was a couple of years ago .I don't know if the Baptist network went off the air completely or the the Cable dropped them but their not on anymore .Our Cable still carries thee baptist Preachers mention on this thread .I know their not Baptist but our Cable use to carry John MacArthur and RC Sproul and in the 80's and no longer do .

If you knew how much money is spent on TV for this you would be shocked.

How many of you have met people who give to those ministries and don't attend a church.

I remember once when a woman called the church and asked for help. I went to visit her and asked her about her spiritual condition. She was a Christian and watched these TV preachers for seevral hours each day and did not attend a church. She told me that she contacted one of them and asked for their help but they refused to help her.

When people come to a church and they have been listening to these "great" preachers they often come with unrealistic expectations of a local church and of the pastor.

Personally I have seen some of those men do more damage than good for the local church. Some of them are great orators or heresy.

All of us know who listens to those men. It sure isn't non-believers. If it were geared to reach the non-believer the program would have much different content not just another church service. The messages would be evangelistic and not for the typical church person. I have seen where some of those TV preachers live. How much of the money that they bring in goes to help other young pastors and churches? Know any of them that actually follow up on those people who watch.

I only know of one radio station that actually follows up on people who call in. The person actually gets a personal visit from time to time from someone at the station. The man I know is from the BBN.

The Southern Baptist Convention has its own cable channel, FamilyNet, which features a number of Baptist and evangelical preachers, including Rogers, Stanley and David Jeremiah. Sunday is pretty much wall-to-wall worship services, mainly from Baptist churches.

It is consciously designed to compete with Trinity and the Inspiration Network. Unlike Trinity, it is strictly cable and not over the air.

I don't agree with some of what's on it (I'm Baptist, after all) but compared to its rivals it's a breath of fresh air.

I don't believe I would classify Adrain Rodgers, Charles Stanley and the other Baptist pastors as "tel-evangelists". The format of most of their programs is not to make money nor to ask for donations. The simply televise their worship services and allow others to view. In comparison to most of the "christian" TV they are a breath of fresh air. I do have a concern though of them having their programs on TBN and Daystar Networks right along side of the Heretics (Hinn, Copeland, Crouch, etc) How is a lost person going to be able to tell the difference between the good and bad fruit?

A lost person cannot discern the Spirit, nor do they look to spiritual things. This is the reason those tele-fleecers on The Blasphemy Network wear Rolodex watches and are driven around in limos. But I guess if I could snow people into throwing money at me in exchange for a lot of hot air and demonic sleight-of-hand, I would have a time slot between Copeland and Hinn.

"How can they know if there is no preacher?" It is one thing to say they will know by the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and I would not argue with that, but those who are spiritually dead cannot discern the things of the Spirit. The Spirit takes the Word, convinces, convicts and draws people to God. Far too many people have listen to and followed false teachers believing they were following the truth. We are commanded in Scripture to expose the false teachers, because their heretical teachings are leading men astray. If this were not so then Jesus' strong words to the Pharisee about missing heaven and shutting it up for others would have no meaning. The teacher/preacher is responsible and accountable for what they teach and who they associate with.

May the Lord keep us all close to Himself and grounded in His Word.

My wife and I like Dr. Stanley perhaps the best, but I am not ready to cast judgment against brethren like pastor Hinn and Copeland. I never heard Crouch.

People who do not believe that pastor Hinn and Copeland are filled with the Spirit of God need to get off their 'bigot wagon.'

And if Baptist's can be wrong about the necessity of immersion, they might not have the Lord in their back pocket yet. There was not abundance of water in Israel when people were away from the Jordan. Where do you think they got all the water to immerse people as soon as they were saved? They without any doubt they were sprinkled or poured when they came into the faith.

God's people come in all flavors.

I believe in the Gospels Jesus and his disciples passed by disciples walking past Him. And the disciples complained, but Jesus said something to the effect, that he who is not against Me is for Me.

It is totally unChristian and bigoted to demonize preachers and priests who preach the Cross and forgiveness through Jesus.

I don't know what spirit Hinn, Copeland, Crouch, Dollar, etc. has, but it is not the Holy Spirit, or they would speak the truth about the Lord Jesus. Instead, they speak another gospel and this has been much disscussed on this forum. The Cross? No they do not preach the Cross and that is the big problem. To them, The Lord's death on the cross was insufficient, our salvation was paid for when He, according to them, suffered in hell. You are calling evil good, and good evil when you criticize the brethren here and call it bigotry, when what they are doing is exposing error. What is unChristian is the toleration of those who preach a false gospel and lead multitudes of people astray.

This is why I have so much respect for Steve Brown and the guys at KeyLife. I was in a bad place several years ago and wrote them to ask for prayer and just to get some stuff off my chest.

They bent over backwards to help me.

Joe Focht's church is not far away. I've worked with those guys on different ministry/charity events and they won't turn anyone away.

It is quite scarry the lack of discernment and backbone that many display in the church. They will accept anyone who teaches anything, and call those who point out clear false teachings bigoted. It is not a matter of whether ones likes these men or not, it is a matter of truth. One only has to listen to them, spend time in the Word of God and it is clear that what they preach and teach is heresy. Their own words show them for what they are. And what would be "Un-Christian" would be to let their damning heresies go by unchallenged and continue to destroy peoples lives and lead the church into apostasy. God gave us His Truth, His Spirit, let us walk in Him and His Word in these perilous times.
