</font>
I highly recommend Adrian Rogers to anyone, my family above all... I would gladly have Brother Rogers as pastor of my wife and children... I can't give a man any more compliment than that...

Pat Robertson was raised SBC but word of faith, praying in tongues, etc. is not SBC.

Diane
The SBC does not have a formal statement on praying in tongues.
There is a nonbinding resolution in the state of Florida. There was an attempt in 1998 to pass a resolution against speaking in Tongues in Georgia but it failed to pass.
Had it passed it still would have been non binding.
A foundational issue in the SBC is the issue of each church being autonomous.
There are many SBC ministers and some churches that make room at the table for speaking in tongues.
Therefore The SBC does not dictate the things that Pat Robertson believes any more than they can dictate what Paige Patterson believes.

Actually if you go looking there are quite a number of SBC churches across the U.S that have Charasmatic type services with speaking in toungues.

just saw this fella on TV Sunday nite preaching on a Scripture passage telling us to praise God. closes his bible n reasons, now, it's impossible to praise God when we're downhearted n poor, right?

climax--therefore, God wants us all to be well n to be rich!

pity i didn't take down his name.

</font>
The few that make such a decision may be over stepping their bounds.
This decision is not based upon a resolution that deals with the subject.
The SBC seem to want to avoid bringing up a resolution on speaking in tongues for fear of loosing members.
