God sure thinks highly of His own Word. I believe I will too. I'm done here though....I've said all I need to in this thread. Thanks to Cody for the invitation to his site. I don't have to be 1000% in favor of everything there to enjoy it...That's how I think about the BB as well. Near as I can tell, in my opinion, there is liberty here to a point....but there are also some people here whose doctrine is REALLY MESSED UP too. I won't call names....at least not yet. OOPs...I think I already have a few times....well...if Paul could do it so can I/we. Have a nice day ya'll!

Well...It looks like Cody's new site is already down and gone. There is already a Forbidden 403 server error coming up on it . I even called a friend of mine who got the same thing on his computer when he tried to access it as well. I'm sure that will make some here happy though. Oh Well! I hope this kind of thing doesn't happen here on the Baptist Board. I kinda like this place even with all its ups and downs and the twisted up doctrines of some here. It does make life more interesting to me.:thumbsup:

KJVO are easy to forgive (assuming there is indeed something to "forgive").
After all, there is no question concerning the innerrancy, infallibility and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures in their minds (apart from AD1611 vs AD1769; Cambridge vs Oxford, etc...).

I know his site wasn't new. He wasn't making any secret of the fact that it was apparently "round two" for it. I find your comment above rather ungenerous. He is a young man trying to do something that would be a blessing for like-minded believers. God never "called" experts to begin with. It seems our Lord had a thing for smelly old fishermen and...ugh.....tax collectors among others. I would also note that Cody humbly requested OUR prayers for his endeavour. I ALSO find your comments interesting in light of the fact that YOUR NAME "Greektim", showed up on the membership list over there the evening before the site went down. I did what I always do on a forum....scrolled through the member list to try and maybe get to know some of the people that were participatiing there...and lo and behold...there you are!!! I'm NOT suggesting you had anything to do with that(the site going down)....but maybe if you are going to participate over there you might want to have a more "generous" spirit about things in general. The beauty and genius (and sometimes the downfall) of the internet is that anybody can participate. For us (Christians) it is just another technological means for us to spread the truth of the Gospel and enjoy fellowship with one another. The world IS watching us. Be nice.

Hi Greg...while I generally agree with you more than I don't....this kid wasn't being helpful. He is a Ruckmanite. Quite frankly....he was a heretic. I noted that you created a profile and posted a few times (as did I). While I might admire his intentions....that board needed to go down.
I am partial to "KJV-Onlyism" (as it were)...but that kid was merely a Ruckmanite. That's heresy quite frankly. It's all well and good that that site shuts down. It wasn't helping anyone. In order to be taken seriously...Independent, Fundamental, KJVO, Baptist-Brider...Baptists, need desperately to know and acknowledge error and sin in their camp. We lose all credibility if we can't admit it. He was NOT a positive example. All well and good that he no longer speaks.

Heir...how do you define the word "heretic"? I will say up front that my personal "take" on heresy is ...anything that teaches any concept of salvation contrary to OR IN ADDITION TO "salvation by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ". Doc Ruckman does teach some things that would definitely be strange to some but as far as I can tell he preaches a straight Gospel and holds to the established "fundamentals" of the historical, Biblical Christian faith.....as far as I know.
As for Cody....I cannot bring myself to label him as a heretic. It is obvious that he is a follower of Doc Ruckman and has a high degree of respect for his teachings. The term "Ruckmanite" is, in my opinion, simply a label that was invented by folks that don't like the position or stand that Dr. Ruckman takes about the Word of God. There are plenty of good Christian people who "follow" and "respect" the teachings of men who are in positions of "leadership" that they have either placed themselves in or been "elevated" into by the people they serve. We wouldn't normally ascribe the "ite" label to them. I for one had great respect (and still do) for the late Bro.Lester Roloff...but I'm not a "Roloff"ite" or anything. I just think we need to refrain from calling other Gospel-preaching,teaching Bible-believing Christians "heretics". Joseph Smith was a heretic, Ellen G. White was a heretic, JW's are heretics, Benny Hinn and Creflo Dollar are heretics...Bro. Cody and Dr. Ruckman are not, by definition, heretics. I don't believe Cody is a heretic. I just think he has a large degree of respect for the Bible teacher that taught him to NEVER DOUBT the Book he holds in his hand. I will say in the open HERE that it was at least partially the writings of Dr. Ruckman that helped me to settle the matter of where I stood about the Bible while I was a resident of Bro.Roloff's homes in Texas back in the early 80's. I'm not ashamed to say that here but I am no "Ruckmanite"...if there even is really such a thing. I am a Bible-Believer and if I must wear a label then I am happy to wear that one. I don't think I'll have to apologize to God for being THAT. Beyond that...I do think Peter Ruckman is kinda mean ...kinda like a Christian "junkyard dog". If I was opposed to him I think I would simply avoid him...because I know I'm neither smart enough nor aggressive or "mean" enough to go toe-to-toe with a guy like him in verbal or intellectual "combat". That said...If I was in a war (and we are) I think I'd like to have two things on my side...Peter Ruckman and a bunch of those Israeli soldiers from the IDF. I think my chances of winning would go UP dramatically! The man is a genius of sorts. He just doesn't (and never did) lay down and "take" the nasty things people said about him. He committed the BIG sin in Christendom....he FIRED back.....and HIT what he was aiming at! I'm not saying he was right OR wrong. We all know that men like Joshua, David, Peter, and Paul and others in the Bible had their agressive, combative moments. God used them...sometimes, as David..in bloody physical combat... and sometimes, like Paul to call out false doctrine and false teachers BY NAME. Even our Lord Jesus called some of His contemporaries a "generation of vipers" (modern english.. a bunch of snakes). None of these men would have "played well" with the faint-hearted. The Bible...and the men and women of the Bible are a BLOODY and blood-stained bunch. Any way... we need to be careful about our use of the word "heretic". I personally hope Cody can get his deal worked out and bring his site back. There is value in it.....just like there is value in THIS site. At least I won't get ridiculed for my convictions about the Bible over there.

Would not so far as to say that the good Dr is a heretic, but would say that he is gravely mistaken in his KJVO views, that he is being dishonest with the facts, and that IF he makes it so that if one does NOT go KJVO, than are not even a chrsitian, THAT would make him to be a heretic!
I have heard some believe you cannot get saved out of a non-KJV - if so, then that would make them a heretic.:tear:
yes, probably the same crowd that thinks Moses and paul both used the kjv, and that John when he used the word logos meant the Kjv itself!

Just to let everybody know.....Cody's site is back up and running. He emailed me and told me they had some technical glitches with the server that had to be solved. All is well. I'm glad for him and now I have two good boards to enjoy. Interestingly, I used to be a member at SharperIron too but let my membership lapse after the 2008 Presidential elections ( I posted there in the political part of the forum (mostly)during the run-up to the elections a lot). When I went there recently to re-establish my password and account with their admin I got ZERO response to numerous contacts I tried to make. I guess they must know that I'm KJVO and that I'm anti-Calvinism. They won't even return my email. Of Course...that is the la-la land of Kevin Bauder, Doug Kutilek and all the "scholarly" bunch who think they have all the answers to what ails Biblical Fundamentalism. Oh well.

All the best on that....I just know that I have little truck for those who claim that the KJV is "Inspired" or..."Twice-inspired".
Namely....the owner of that cite would claim that the KJV possesses the authority to "correct" the original text....seriously. The KJV can (by Divine inspiration) correct the fallacious original Greek or even more preposterously, the Hebrew.
Similarly...there will be plenty who might maintain that since the KJV is the "Word of God"...that any who might have come to Christ via the preaching from an alternative version are not truly saved.
That's "Ruckmanism"...and it does MORE harm to the KJVO thingy than anything else ever could...it's heresy. Be careful. I'm definietely pro KJV...even KJVO....but it isn't a fundamental doctrine of the faith. That board will treat it as though it were. That's a problem. It may be un-American.....but the Italian 9.mm Berretta is a superior weapon...I know it's heretical. But it's true. No handgun is more reliable, safe, and it's chamber pressure is off the charts. That round flies at 1,100 f.p.s....the colt flies at the grandfatherly rate of (I think) 800 f.p.s.
The laws of Physics are against you...I can square the velocity of my smaller round....(to calculate overall force). Also that round doesn't pierce dry-wall, (usually) making it safer for the children you might murder in the next room.:wavey:
