Hi, 4 given...I just sent you a "one handed" typed private message. I had my other hand full, and was trying to do too many things at once.

LOL...Believe it or not, NOBODY helped us move. They were all working. Vivian (my wife) and I had to do it all ourselves, and it took two days to load a 28 foot truck one time for the apartment (this didn't get everything there), and then one day loading a 10X15 storage space. Still recovering from severe blood loss two months or so ago and transfusions, I am not nearly as strong as I once was. We went to use our van on New Years day, and it broke down and had to be towed. So, we moved the rest in two cars, several trips for three days. We finally closed yesterday (Jan 5th) Praise the Lord!!!

Now, as far as my weight gain, it came from the steroid treatments that were required to properly assertain the treatment I needed for Meniere's disease. I ballooned well over 400 lbs in just a short time. I'm back down somewhat now to just a little over 300, but, still...mine wasn't gluttony.

Donna you asked about weight gain caused by medicines. Look at the picture in my profile. Hubby had been on 80 mg's of Prednisone for a LONG time and had developed the large abdomen, round moon face and had started to get a rounded hump on his back. Doctor took him off the prednisone and it took a year but his back and face are normal now. He still has extra weight in his abdomen but he's only about 180lbs now. Jim's 5'9" and carries his extra weight in his abdomen. This is where he'd say he knows how he could lose a quick 134 lbs. ;) ;)

The answer??? Time... Another side effect of going off the prednisone, his cholesterol returned to normal! Go figure!

So it's a matter of going off the meds and wait for it to do it on it's own.
I'd heard of it and didn't know anything about it.

I saw Jerry Lewis on some interview a few years ago and he was on meds that casued him to baloon up really big. He talked some about it, but I can't really remember.

Some of the weight may remain forever and children who take steriods early in life can develop the moon face and it not go away. Did you know prednisone, given to children, can cause bone death! Some famous athletes had to have hip replacement after being given steroids for asthma and poison ivy as children.

I don't think Jim could ever get rid of his abdomen. He's not healthy enough to work out. That's okay. I still think he's handsome.

You're exactly right, Diane! Mine was from Prednizone, also. I hated taking the stuff, as it made me overly aggressive and almost cost me my job when I was still able to work. I was on 100...glad Jim was only on 80. Time is part of what took mine off. Also a diet rich in veggies helped, along with what exercise I could get.

Some people are simply made LARGE & are gonna be large if healthy, regardless of diet.

While in Tokyo in the NAV, I didn't see too many Japanese taller than I (I'm 6'2") but I often saw'em heavier.(Not counting sumos, who ARE deliberately fattened up)

OTOH, while visiting various Pacific islands, I often had to look up at the natives, and I coulda hidden behind many of'em. And the MEN were even bigger! And yet I don't recall any of those people eating any more at a meal than I did.

In 1986, my gall bladder suddenly, w/o warning, ruptured, and the resulting peritonitis cost me some small intestine, and now I'm on a bland diet plus vitamin, mineral, and protein supplements for the rest of my life. I lost down to about 180 lb. but I gained back about 50 lb. within 6 months. I reckon I simply returned to what is my normal weight. I just watch my blood chemistry and ignore the calorie police, especially since my diet is so restricted.

Every Christian should automatically know if he/she is eating too much. Some people require more food to maintain their health.

I agree, because of activity, or matebolism, not everyone needs the same amounts of food.

I gained a lot of weight fast, and no matter how much I tried I couldn't hardly loose any of it. We ate very low fat for several years and I lost not one pound. Then just over a year ago I found out I ahd hypothyroidism, when I got meds, I not only felt better, but have been able to begin loosing weight again.
So my weight is due in part to eating and inpart to the thyroid.

Then don't feel bad about it. Your body is doing what it is going to do. You can only control so much.

If you are eating lowfat and watching your portions then you are doing your part. Watch out for carbs though. A lot of lowfat diets are heavy on the carbs and to many carbs will cause weight gain just as to much fat will.

I am diabetic which means I have to eat low carb, had to give up my precious mac and cheese. I also try and watch fat as much as I can. I eat only what my body actually requires, which I aven't always done. So far looseing pretty good.
