What bothers me is race is automatically assumed if the victim was black. That does not seem right to me.

Me neither. Some of these assumptions border on profiling which is what we are fighting

I do not know if the other white officer, the black officer, or the Asian officer had any against them but it looks like Chauvin was problematic regardless of race.

Jon, Do you think that will be brought up in the trial - to prove he is an equal opportunity offender?

I am not sure.

The issue, I think, will be that the officer had taken control of Floyd and therefore responsibility for his safety.

I suspect the officer did not realize the severity of Floyd's condition. But he was still responsible.

I agree. At the same time it is hard for people not to draw conclusions that may not be factual. We all have preconceived thoughts and our experiences shape our conclusions.

If I were a black man who had been abused by a police officer because of my race I would assume racism is involved here.

Having been automatically assumed to be a racist because I am white I hold racism as something that has to be proved.

IMHO Mr. Floyd is a horrible example of racial issues that do exist. He was just another "spark" who became a pawn.

Something tells me that there is more to the story - In fact, I dont think his lawyer has said anything - we will just have to wait.

I'm thinking the other reports will come up- to show that yes he has done it - but in spite of race - he only used the force needed to keep the suspect under control. In fact at one point there were apparently 3 officers kneeling on him. WHY? - was he still resisting - was he under the influence of drugs - -

There very well could be a lot more to this story that we are not aware of.

Lets have a true fair trial - with all facts presented.

Hmmm - should the defense insist that there should be a couple of LEO's on the jury?
