I see google ads all the time, and some not so nice, for a long time we had a muslim dating service, once for a few days we had a church for homose*uals. Not everyone can black these ads, and others treat us like it doesn't matter just because they can, so who cares.

Actually, you can block them. It's as simple as downloading Firefox and Ad Block Plus, both of which are free.

Why does anyone let the adds bother them? Sure, I see the adds, but I ignore them. Believe me, if I was not able to ignore certain things, I would not be able to work in a machine shop.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

This is sorta like I told my college SS class several years ago when several were getting ready to go to the beach.

"The first look at a skimpyly dressed girl is her fault, the second look is all your fault!"

I agree, as my big hangup is profanity, and unless you are in a church setting 24/7 (usually??) you are going to hear profanity. Basically when I encountered such, I would move so as not to hear such, rather than stay and be lambasted with it.

I prefer not to contune to bog down my computer even more by down loading even more stuff. I was warned about this the one and only time I have ever had to pay for repairs.

because this is supose to be a christian web site, and sin is not acceptable and should not tolerated by just ignoring it.

You might want to ask your repair person about FF and ABP. They will probably recommend those sites if they are honest. I have used both for years on both PC and Mac machines and never had a problem, as a matter of fact they both avert problems.

You must use a PC. If you get a Mac you won't have all those problems.

Good advice to follow, DonnA. I have used Firefox and Adblock (and NoScript and Flashbloack) for years. I am a serious believer in keeping my computer protected.

You're taking it all wrong. No one said the ads aren't a problem.

My link was simply info on the hosts file that your computer is already using. Editing it doesn't change a thing about how your computer works, it just tells it where to look for certain web pages. I've edited it to look for google ad web pages on my home computer. Of course it can't find them, so it doesn't display them. :thumbs:

An added benefit is that web pages I'm purposefully visiting load faster since I'm not downloading ads. (I'm still on dial-up.)

Surely you know someone who is computer savvy and who you can trust to edit your hosts file for you.

Mostly because everyone else wants to use it.
