Good question, but just thinking out loud, since no one was here to document the US prior to its discovery. Let’s say the natural land mass that connects Russia with North America was utilized by early indigenous people to populate North America. Let’s say centuries went by and eventual people made it into South America and those in let’s say what is now Florida, fished the outer banks of the ocean. They got lost, swept out to sea or something and found themselves in Cuba. From there the same thing happened and eventually Puerto Rico was populated in the same way.

I don’t know, but it’s a logical guess.

After Babel, the land probably had a good distribution of people, so when Gen 10:25 occured, there were already people on every future continent! Don't know fer sure, but seems logical to me.

Gen 1:9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so.

Gen 10:25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.
