Being haunted by Devils/Ghosts

A few months back there was a poster that posted a story of some devils that were haunting his house and the like. I am curious as to the outcome of that experience and if the devils left. You know that devils can sometimes take the form of a man and appear to be someone they are not. I am not sure how often this happens, but perhaps some that have given me grief while out street witnessing have not been human. I do not think the devils would post on this board, however some posters here make me question that theory (just joking). Devils are smart and smarter than humans. A devil may not outright attack a believer as they would in Muslim dominated countries, but the devil will do all that he can to discredit a believer.

Demons don't have bodies, so they have to "possess" a person.
I have been confronted by someone related to me that was "possessed",
and it was a turning-point in my life. They are usually more "subdued"
in this present dispensation and especially to those who are "rational"
and "logical" but not spiritual (walking in the Holy Spirit).

I started that thread, if I'm not mistaken. Think it was last summer or fall and concerning a shadow that passed behind me while putting the baby to bed. Havent had any reocurrences since then. Walked throughout the house proclaiming the name of Jesus and told any entity they were unwanted and to leave.

No, I wasn't aware of this. Do you have an instance where this was recorded in scripture?

There is a passage that says that sometimes angels can take the appearance of a man (Heb 13:2). Demons are angels and therefore can become men in appearance. Also there are examples in the OT, and the one that rings the bell is in Genesis were Lot was greeted by angels and walked with them (Gen 18).

Amen!!! Praise the Lord for this brother. We need to watch out for devils. Just yesterday at work someone was talking about his Dungeons and Dragons obsessions in the break room. I did not want to play with Satan and so I left the room. I also remember a time where I was working in Home health Care some years ago and I had a client that at times played with WIGI Boards. He did not like it but I refused to help him if he did that. The company usually catered to the client and so it was in the best interest of me to leave.

What about the examples in the OT especially Genesis 18? It would appear that angels can appear to be men but are not really men. What evidence do we have in the Bible that devils/fallen angels cannot do the same? I believe they can. There are other examples in the OT of angels appearing to be men.

Also Erwin Lutzer tells a story of a boy whom saw a person that was really a demon in his book The Serpent of Paradise on page 106. Very very freaky and the story reminded me of the movie The Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis.

I recall winman talking of how a pastor and another were followed by a sports car. Of course the color of the car was black and was driven by a demon. This demon stopped at the cafe the preacher and another were at and confronted both of them.

Obviously demons look like men and drive black sports cars as well. :wavey:

Some see demons under every tree and rock. Demons are real and do inhabit people, but it is not as common the Devil would like to make it seem. In my life I have met perhaps three people who I believe were demon-possessed. If I recall correctly, two became saved and their lives visibly changed.

In like manner, I remember working with a professing Christian who told me that Jesus talked to her in visible form every night and told her all the bad things people at work were saying about her. I just nodded my head and asked her if he told her what I thought of her. She said no and I said "That's good" - because I thought she was nuts.

I like a ghost story or movie as much as the next person, but it is entertainment. Notice most of the movies are on the SyFy Channel. That means fiction. Absent from the body is present with the Lord, not lingering in the last building they lived in waiting for Ghost Hunters.

Things like UFOs, ghosts, shadow people, aliens, etc could possibly be demonic, but why have I not seen one in sixty some odd years.

If a ghost lingers in a building, have you ever wondered where it goes if the building is torn down? Why does one have to turn off the lights to search for ghosts?

Yes, this story was told to me by my pastor years ago and I believed him. It was his pastor when he was a young assistant pastor and another young pastor that had this experience while travelling to a convention. They talked to this "demon from hell" as the senior pastor called him.

I could tell you of a personal experience my family had over 20 years ago, but people use these stories to ridicule persons.

I have also told you folks of several UFOs I have seen in my life that were "very close" to me and unmistakable, but again, folks will just ridicule.

What I have learned is not to judge. Most folks are probably mistaken when they think they see a UFO or ghost, but some folks are telling the truth.

So can you answer the question, where do ghosts go when they tear down the building they are haunting?

Well, I don't believe in ghosts, the spirits of people either go to heaven or hell, but an unclean spirit can move about.

Mat 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

An unclean spirit can move about, Jesus said so.

Laugh and ridicule. I could tell you of an unclean spirit that traveled on a jet plane, but you would mock.

Easiest way to get rid of demons is become a Kingdom Now/Dominionist.

How did you know it was not the baby's guardian angel?

why would he walk behind me blocking the light from the hallway? I don't recall angels in the Bible sneaking around behind you. Their interactions with men in the Bible were straight forward and in the open.

Oh, I don't know.

Perhaps, to guard you both.

I was just wondering if there was some impulse or Holy Spirit awareness that impressed you.

Whoa! I had never heard of this before, just did a Google search. Are you sure this is not the quickest way to invite demons into your home?

http://endtimepilgrim.org/70wks9.htm

Scary.

I said that because those groups of 'prophetic' thought believe that Satan is currently bound (based on erroneous allegorizing of Revelation 20:1-4), therefore Satan can not possibly be influencing the world, so there should be no such thing as demonic activity.

So if one wants to get rid of demons, just join one of those groups because for them, it's out of sight and out of mind!

If you can't tell by now, that comment was a joke. The majority of Calvinistic/Reformed theology hold to this type of prophetical interpretation.
